PSDZdata and Esys

Hi everyone!

I have been going through the forums for a while and have found it to be a good source of information. I cant appreciate enough the effort of those who take part and help others resolve their issues.

Recently I started fiddling with esys to do VO and FDL coding. Most of what I did I have learned from Bimmerpost.com, by going through tutorials and case resolutions of other forum users.

Regarding the latest issue I have run into with esys, I haven't been able to find the relevant information neither here nor on google.

My problem is the flashing of an ACSM MODULE. The module came from a F30 320d 2015. I flashed it to fit on a F20 118d 2017. Everything was fine apart from a fuel delivery light that comes up on the dash. I know that the ACSM module controls the deployment of airbags and seatbelt tensionner, etc. It also commands other modules to shut down the electric fuel pump.

Can someone help me out on this please?

I am wondering if this is due to the version of PSDZdata installed on my computer??

I cant answer your question but shawnsheridan might be able to help, he should be able to provide a link to the latest psdzdata files if required if you ask him nicely.

Cheers for the quick reply.
Right now I am not even sure if this is due to PSDZdata. It was a wild guess.

By the way, how do I ask Shawnsheridan nicely? kidding

Please Shawn can you help in this matter? Thanks in advance!

PM sent. But, unless you cant read ACSM with current PSdZdata, then Updating it will not solve anything. I would:

VO Code ACSM with E-Sys
Lock ACSM with Tool32
Clear Errors with E-Sys

Then see if issue is resolved.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I know how to VO code. But I have never used tool32 even though I have it installed on my PC. Can you share a tutorial or some guidance in that regard.

As for clearing error with E-sys, do you mean inserting CAFDs if they are missing or if they are showing in red?

Thanks again in advance.

Lock ACSM:

Launch C:\EDIABAS\Bin\TOOL32.EXE
Hit F3
Load C:\EDIABAS\Ecu\ACSM4.prg
In the "Select Job: F01" window, select steuern_verriegelung_schreiben (steuern_verriegelung_schreiben = control locking write)
Hit F5
"Results" window should show "JOB_STATUS = OKAY"

If ACSM4.prg does not work, try ACSM5.prg, STEUERN(ARG;VERRIEGELUNG_SG;0).

Clear Fault Codes:

With E-Sys:

Click "External Applications" in the left menu.
Click "External Application"
Double-click "Transmitter"
Scroll to the bottom and click "14 FF FF FF,31 01 0F 06,31 01 40 00 00,31 01 40 00 05,31 01 40 00 01;Clear all DTCs (clear DTC,clear Infospeicher,ZFS – DM_Lock,clear ZFS – DM_Clear,ZFS – DM_Unlock)"
Click Connect
Click Send

Hi Shawnsheridan,

I have followed the steps you enumerated. I couldn't lock ACSM in Toolset32. But managed to do it in esys. Then I went ahead and completed the next step (Scroll to the bottom and click "14 FF FF FF,31 01 0F 06,31 01 40 00 00,31 01 40 00 05,31 01 40 00 01;Clear all DTCs (clear DTC,clear Infospeicher,ZFS – DM_Lock,clear ZFS – DM_Clear,ZFS – DM_Unlock).

After starting the vehicle the fault returned (fuel supply. You can continue driving.)

Do you think I have missed a step?

I know for a fact that there is nothing wrong with the fuel supply of the vehicle. and it worked fine with another ACSM module from a working same model f20. This problem only occurs when I inject cafd with my version of PSDZdata.

Now if I knew how to revert to the original CAFD file which I have saved when I did "read FA" then I would be able to get rid of this issue for the time being.

So can you please explain the steps to follow in order to revert to the saved FA?

Thanks in advance

Ash

Revert to a saved FA or revert to original CAFD?

And when you flashed this used ACSM Module, which I assume is same part number as original ACSM, did you use I-Step Shipment based on Car I-Step Shipment, or use the proper I-Step Shipment based on the used ACSM Module?

Reverting to a saved FA.

The module I flashed was not the same part number but it was an acsm4.

And I used the i step shipment based on car.

Whatever it is in FA you changed (you should know), then set it back to original, and write back to car VCM.

I hope at least the replacement ACSM4 part Number shows in ETK as Superseding the original one, else you cannot ensure compatibility.

Lastly, I-Step Shipment of replacement ECU is seldom same as car, particularly if Part Number is different. In such case, you must select correct I-Step Shipment of replacement ECU, not car, else you flash wrong firmware to ECU. You will know correct ECU I-Step Shipment when ECU HWEL in svt_soll (Target) is Black, not Red / Blue.

I think the part number difference may be the reason for all the issues I have been having.

I decided to order a new ACSM and flashed it in Esys. Then locked it in ISTA D. All is good now.

Thanks for all the help Shawnsheridan and everyone else. I must admit I have learned a lot from these exchanges.

I am slightly confused though why locking the acsm in esys did not work after flashing it. I tried in ISTA D and worked right away.
