what did you end up having to do. I'm myself have a 18 f30 id6 andream mmi nbt evo an no audio. I have the USB to 3.5 mm headphone. any information would be greatly appreciated thanks

I ended up with a Bimmertech MMI box which uses the front Aux in port (not the 3.5mm jack).

Anyone get random disconnects / reconnects on iPhone wireless carplay? It happens to me 2 or 3 times every drive. I took the dash apart and rechecked all physical connections to rule that out. Pretty sure it's something BT or wireless in the phone but not sure what. This is a Roadtop B MMI in F15 X5.

Some suggested to change the wifi channel in the MMI menu from/to Ch36 depending on interference. Also, do not locate your wifi antennae close to other EMF parts.

Not sure you can change it unless you have the source code to the MMI firmware. So far not aware of anyone having it nor having it hacked.

Always as I start the car, Apple CarPlay starts automaticly.
Is it possible to “auto” start with the Idrive ?
And then, when I want to, switch to Apple CarPlay with the menu button.

maybe from the phone you can set something

in my experience with Andream and Android Auto wireless, the autostart is not reliable 100%, for instance if i unlock the car doors and then wait 10 seconds or more before starting the cars, the android auto will work maybe 20% of the times

yes same problem here. For me its 100% a connection issue. If I leave my phone in the jeans pocket, I will disconnect from time to tome, but if I put it directly in front of the climate unit, it works perfectly. As placing the wifi-antenna somewhere else did not make any difference, I am pretty sure that my wifi-antenna is bad or not working.

I have a version B Andream. It is installed and working (mostly) in my 2014 F25. I was able to upgrade the firmware and connect the phone, etc. But I have no sound. I have the Aux cable plugged in the armrest and the iDrive set to front Aux. What am I missing?? Oh, I should specify I am using an Android.

Update, changed from wifi channel 36 to channel 6 and no disconnects on a few short/local drives with multiple starts/stops. Not convinced this is an absolute fix until I get on the highway going through populated areas to rule out any interference.

Aux should NOT be plugged into the armrest, you need to connect it first to the USB coming out of your dash from the MMI device. You only have to do this once, then configure your phone to do it wirelessly.

Does anyone have any suggestion for the cleanest place to locate the candybar style antenna that has the 3M tape on it and still get the best reception on an NBT EVO unit? Can this go behind the head unit or on top of it directly without electro magnetic interference? Or should it be higher up near the dash or near the drivers side footwell plastic trim?

I’ve had this mmi box for about 2 years and I thought it was normal for the Screen not to show camera when I select reverse. I’ve been holding down menu button to get into bmw Idrive so I can see my reverse 360 cameras.

My car is M5 F10 2016 and has original 360 camera.

I’ve played around with the settings and can’t seem to get the reverse camera to automatically come up when I’m in CarPlay mode.

Also no volume bar when I’m

Make sure you have set the camera dip switches on the unit to OFF. From memory it is switch 6 and 7, but check the correct switches for your model. Assuming they are set correctly, there is an option in the settings menu of the MMI box to use reverse camera > original. Hope that helps otherwise do a firmware and MCU upgrade if there is one available on this forum first page for your model.
