Idrive rebooting after map update
Updated 2013 nav to 2018-1 but since then ,the idrive keeps rebooting every 45 seconds especially when on the move. Just uploaded 2018-2 and got the same issue. I have already tried disconnecting the battery .Is there anyone that can reflash my idrive to the latest istep version in the midlands as that is what i suspect , or point to what the problem could be bar going to BMW? Thanks

Link comes from genuine source, did over 15 NBT’s with 2018-2 maps without any issue. OP NBT unit has different problem.

Software update completed but still same issue.
Could it be because I jumped from 2013 maps straight to 2017/2018 and the old firmware cant handle it. It was working perfectly fine on the 2013 maps. 2018-2 maps/idrive works perfectly for around 5% of the time. Maybe I need a firmware update/idrive flash..

I've got the same problem, went from 2013 NBT to 2018-2 except that mine gets stuck in a reboot loop for about 10 minutes of my journey then starts working again absolutely fine. So far it's happened twice, both times leaving work in the evening - mornings it's started with no issues at all. When I did the initial update of the nav software I wasn't prompted for the FSC code until I'd restarted the car the next morning and then decided that it wasn't going to accept my FSC code at all, said it was incorrect first time then flat out ignored me the next two times. Once again, left car alone and came back at lunch and tried again, it started boot cycling and would only let me get 6 digits of the code in before dying, after 10 minutes it let me enter the code and all was well. Then, on leaving work yesterday and the day before it's gone a bit haywire rebooting itself every minute or so for ten minutes. It's also done a hard reset of all my profiles, sound options, saved stations etc. so it looks like it's trying to get itself back in order following a fault?

I also find that whilst its rebooting, there isn't anything you can change, its only when it randomly starts working again that the profiles return and everything works again.
My unit asked for the fsc code the next day which I input and it accepted, but the issue is still there. Booked into BMW on Monday.

What's the likely issue?
Is it something to be aware of with 2018-2 and older I Step version specifically or is it unrelated do you believe? I'm running the original firmware on my MY14 and have upgraded to newer Nav versions fine previously. |

My mate with esys updated the Idrive firmware and no more issues, didnt have to go to the dealer in the end.
Another friend uploaded 2018-1 on his 2014 with no issues.

A week ago I tried to update with 2018-2 Europe maps on my F11 (2013 with professional navigation) and it failed to complete and has resulted in continuous Connected Drive reboots (every minute). This happens whether the car is stationary or moving.
Today I took it to an independent specialist who updated all ECU firmware to the latest version however the Connected Drive system wouldn't update (after multiple attempts) and the problem remains. He said that the Connected Drive unit will need replacing at a cost of more than £1,000 (car is out of warranty) I had previously updated to 2018-1 without incident so the problem is clearly caused by the 2018-2 map update. I have informed BMW that they are liable to fix the problem because their map update is responsible for the damage. I have stated my intention to take legal action if they do not provide a satisfactory resolution. I will also go to the press. Has anybody had a similar experience and how did it conclude? Cheers |
