tinting prices
Im looking to get my windows tinted because theyre at id say probaaly 85% and every morning when i get into my car it is HOT and while im at a stop light if the sun is on me, even through a window, i get pretty toasty. i got these price quotes at a tinting place called tint fx which was reccomended to me by a friend.
carbon - 220 cxp - 270 3m - 290 also, for the '3m' there is a choice between color stable and crystalline. i believe the quote 290 is for color stable because i called other places to ask how much for their crystalline and i got prices in the 500's. could anyone tell me the difference between color stable and crystalline? im most likely going to go for 3m but i just wanted to see if the price is good. ****EDIT**** I just called a few other places and they all had different films.. Suntek carbon cxp for $360 Pinnacle for $360 Charcoal Madico for $220 Can anyone explain the differences of these to me? what im looking for is mostly heat blocking but i also want the tint to look good. I have a black on black 335 Last edited by 3_dirty_5; 09-05-2014 at 02:23 PM.. |

I used LLumar FormulaOne ceramic tints on this car and I'm very happy with them. We've had SolarGard ceramic on previous cars as well and it was very similar.
I've also had regular dyed tints on cars and it wasn't as good at heat rejection. Point of post - I don't think it really matters what brand you get as long as it is a ceramic tint, they should all perform very similarly. |

Prices would depend on how competitive the window tint business is in your area. Here in Toronto, there are quite a few places, but most premium tints will cost 300-350. I would personally think the prices that you've been quoted are pretty good, but you should probably wait for somebody from the States to chime in. If Color Stable is the most basic tint, then I think it might be a bit high. Most basic tints would not run over 250 here.

I have Wincos IR tint. About $400-600 depend on location but it is very good in terms of heat rejection and block.

I just got my rear sides and back window done with 35% CXP at SJ Tinting in Mt Laurel, NJ for $260. I could have had HP for $185 or Carbon for $200. Apparently HP has a metallic content which can adversely impact cell reception.
All of the pieces were computer cut. I think they did a great job and I highly recommend them.
