Apple Carplay
This is going to be a Tomorrow's World moment so I'm guessing this will not be coming to any BMW's in the near future.
http://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/ No another note, it's annoying how BMW doesn't provide a update to enable the Siri integration using the buttons for pre-14 cars. How difficult can it be? Even Honda are providing the update to existing capable car. |

This is the reason app switching doesn't work on pro nav since ios6.
Apple are slowly coming up with ways of forcing manufactuers to run with their software. |

To have access to this level of technology you have to move to a new Kia. I kid you not.

I do not want Apple's iOS in my car. Full stop.
Do you really expect Apple to have open APIs to allow communication with Android devices? D.

I've worked in IT for 30 years and it's funny how integration problems have now spread to our cars and entertainment systems.
Car owners are now enjoying the scrapyard challenge of cobbling technology together from different manufacturers who change their products every few months. After scouring the Internet, I've given up trying to work out what I'll be able to do with my HTC One in my new car, I'll just wait till it turns up and experiment |

If you get the dealer to update to the car to the current firmware you can then code the SIRI activation function. Having said that, I never did try it before the dealer update. The firmware update also allows the very latest version of the bluetooth updates to be installed (not that they ever seem to add any obvious improvements).
