I'm trying to become like Mark Z. Just own a ton of one stock and make a killing. Not quite there yet but hoping to get there.

Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, but we have more folks here in Silicon Valley that went belly-up from bad investments than Mark Z's.

Lots of my neighbors were riding high and trading big figures for a stretch and then forced to sell their homes the next year. Best of luck to you; my only point being that you should only invest as much as you're willing to lose - sorry for what may read like a lecture.

I don't think Apple is going belly up any time soon, it's been around since 1976 and is the largest company in the world, soon to have a net worth of 1 trillion. I've made more this year alone than my income from my day job, and yes I do have a regular day job. I'm assuming Mark Z has mostly Facebook shares, just invest wisely and use common sense and you should be fine, no reward without some risk. You can choose to play it safe but you won't make nearly as much and might not even have enough to retire if you do what most folks do. I still have awhile before I retire so I can afford the risk I'm taking, I always have enough to pay my bills every month so I'm good.

Good deal; we're all adults here (I think) and can make our decisions accordingly. I'm actually aligned with your thinking ... about 20 to 25 years of workforce participation left in me, so I peg my risk accordingly.

Not in the near future. The owners just picked this one up about a year ago but we are wishfully hoping for a 600/650. Their travel doesn't really warrant it but who knows.

I used to be an attorney - defense litigation for corporations and insurance companies. It was soul-sucking work. Now I work part-time as a book editor and own a travel agency. My spouse makes the money we live on (LAPD Captain), and I make pocket money. I am not rich anymore but am a hell of a lot happier.
