Possible timing chain fix
Hey I was wondering if you guys think there’d be any way I could try and finesse BMW to fix my timing chain even though it’s past the 70k mile mark? My car is at 75k. Idk if any of y’all have had experiences with possibly getting them to fix it anyways even though it’s just past the mile mark. Let me know! Thx

Chances are they're not going to fix it if it isn't broken. But you never know, they do get paid for labor by BMW, so if they're looking to keep a mechanic busy they might.

Hey there !
I just found out BMW extended warranty for this timing chain issue has been extended to 8 years + XXXk miles. I just brought my car in for warranty service claim 'coz my frined who is my SA for a long time from a different dealership told me to bring it it in even if I'm not hearing the whinning noise indicative of the timing chain/guide problem. There is a copay portion depending on mileage. Mine is only 47k miles/ 7 years old so my cost will be 25% per repair guideline. You should check with your "friendly" dealer SA, and thats not saying its set in stone as I still have to hear from my friend after Christmas. Btw,,,there's a class action lawsuit regarding this known problem with BMW motor. |

It's not a recall, it's a warranty. Recall gets a new part ASAP. Warranty gets a new part if the old part breaks, or if the dealer feels that failure is imminent.
