Spring/Coilover Options For 328d xDrive?

Sorry for the stupid question but I'm relatively new to the F30 world. I got a '15 328d xDrive as a DD a couple months ago and am looking to drop the car a bit since the wheel gap is so big and unsightly. Everywhere I look I see options for 320i/ix/328i/ix/335i/ix but no mention of diesel unless it's for an F31 wagon (which I do not have). Does anyone know if the ix sedan options also fit the dx sedan? Thanks.

They will fit. You can account for the very likely minimal difference in forward weight by adjusting your coilovers. Skip springs entirely imo. They are hit or miss in getting what you want out of them.

Any suggestions? I still want a soft ride I just want the car sitting lower. Would like to keep it under $1500. Wondering if KW V1 / bilstein b14 would give me what I'm looking for.

If you live outside of the rust belts then you could go with ST coilovers. They are KW V1 without the stainless application, and a bit cheaper. Otherwise the V1 will be fine, B14 as well.

From what I've research the V1, ST and B14 will be noticeably stiffer than the xdrive suspension. Maybe also consider the V2, B16, and KW street comfort if they have that for the wagon. These at least have the dampening option so maybe there will be a setting you'd like more.

Sorry I guess it wasn't clear in my post but I drive a sedan. Also live where it snows and salt gets thrown all over the roads come winter so ST's and similar brands are off the table.

That's a good suggestion to get coils with dampening, just not too keen on the 20% price increase going from V1 to V2. It's nearing the $2000 mark, and that's before install (I'm not a DIYer when it comes to this stuff), but If what you say is true about the V1s/B14s being quite a bit stiffer than stock then I guess they wouldn't be worth the price increase over springs.

I'm going to look into the street comforts then. They're a bit cheaper than V2s and sound very promising. Thanks for the help.

whoops. sorry for the mix up on vehicle model.

I personally have not had any experience with the difference between stock and b14... but the reviews say so lol. I would look for the posts with the guys that went with the b14 and see for yourself. I guess it depends on what you want out of it.

I'll link the reviews below this post if I stumble upon them

Thanks but you've pretty much already sold me on the street comforts, lol.

V1 - $1400
Street Comfort - $1600
V2 - $1800

The street comforts come with softer spring rates and have the same adjustable dampening that the V2's get. Seems like a win win to me. I could live with the marginal price increase for those added benefits.

Food for thought...the only downside (and something I have yet to confirm but I think I read this somewhere) is that the dampening adjustment is on top for the rears... which means if you do not install yourself, you will have to get someone to remove the rears just to adjust...

I do like street comforts but this put me off since I live in an apartment with no garage access. lol

I'm planning on setting them very soft from the get go to hopefully any avoid future adjustment, but even if I have to go back and get them readjusted, once they're set where I want them to be they'll be good to go for the life of the car and I presumably wouldn't need to mess with them again.

OP just to clarify - do you have adaptive dampers?

The street comforts come with softer springs as well? I thought they only allowed for a smaller minimum drop, meaning at its highest setting its only 10mm lower than base Xdrive suspension compared to 30mm from the V series. Good to know, as I had them on my shortlist. Looking for double duty daily and hpde coilovers.

Top of my list are the pss10.

Also to note that stiffer than stock isn't a bad thing. Base xdrive suspension is WAY too soft imo. The smallest bumps in the road make the car feel like it it's going to fall apart. I've never driving a stock car with suspension so soft like this. As it's also my first BMW, I was quite surprised by it.

They come with softer spring rates and the lowering range is .6"-1.8" front and .8"- 2.0" rear.

My 328 is my daily driver and designated winter vehicle. My M2 is my fun car. Don't need any sort of sporty feeling from the 328. Would rather have it as soft as possible so I don't have to worry about pot holes and bumps. Just want the drop to make it look less like an SUV

Good deal. Looks like you've decided! Let us know how you like the street comforts. I am between that and the b16 PSS10.

Side note: I hope to have the same set up after I finish school. 328 as my DD and m2 as a fun car.
