BMW Transport Mode for shipping?

Hey all,

I am getting ready to place my 335i on the boat and return back to the states after being in Europe for a few years.

Does anyone know how I can use eSys or some other software to place my car into "Transport Mode". I read that it exists but there is not much useful information out there on my google searches.

Pretty much I want to have the ability to limit my RPMs and Top Speed down to something like a Valet mode where they can't go racing around in it.

Thanks for the help!

Hmm, this is interesting. I wonder if it's possible?

BMW transport mode doesn't limit the performance, it's purely there to help prevent the battery from draining. Not worth it IMO.

It can be done with ISTA and Tool32

BMW also has a small device that will do it.

You could go buy a dealership and ask them if they would do it for you.

Once you put the car into transport mode, how would you get it out?

I thought that wasn't exactly easily possible which is one of the main reasons why its a concern during flashing?

Although its a shame it doesn't work like you specified! Perhaps try to find a way to force them into eco pro mode? haha

Good luck either way!

Rheingold (ISTA-D) has procedures for both setting and deleting transport mode. However, according to the accompanying documentation, the procedure for setting transport mode can be triggered "only for vehicles with a kilometer reading of less than 50 in the diagnosis system".
