Qi wireless charging adapter

It appears BMW has finally released a snap-in adapter that has Qi wireless charging... but I can't find any USA dealers that actually have one.

Has anybody actually seen this thing, or is it a unicorn?

I bought the 3 coils DIY QI module on Am@zon, and I custom made the pad out an old iPad leather case I had, the case had the same texture as the dash. It turned out to be better than expected.

I also just found it a few days ago, while floating over the online parts cat. looking out for fancy things.

However I found this as part# fitting the F3x series cars (but like written from 07/14 production and with S6NSA)

Ya know I used this wonderful thing called Google Translate....and magically I can read German instructions from BMW. It works great so no need to worry about not understanding steps.

Wireless Charging Mounting (F20, F21, F22, F23, F30, F31, F32, F33, F34, F35, F36, F80, F82, F83, F87)

Installing the wireless charging tray A in the center armrest storage compartment (1).
Lay the wireless charging rack A as shown and connect it to the vehicle-side pin housing.
Connect USB cable (2), pin housing 4-pin BL, free of clipping (no longer required).
Shelf Install center armrest according to ISTA 84 10 700.

Final work and functional test
The retrofit system is not programmable / coding-relevant.
- Connect the vehicle battery
- Connect the battery charger to the vehicle
- Vehicle testing equipmentSystemTo carry out andreplaced fault memory, process if necessary
- Perform the functional test
- Assemble the vehicle in a sensible manner
- Deliver customer information to the customer.

Customer information to wireless charging storage

principle
The wireless charging tray allows the following functions:
- accommodation of the mobile phone
- Charge the battery of a compatible mobile phone
- Connect the mobile phone to the external antenna.
This ensures a better network reception and consistent playback quality depending on the country.

Functional requirements
1 Front bracket with LED
2 storage area
3 Movable holding clip
- The mobile phone must support the required Qi standard compatibles. If the mobile phone does not support the Qi standard, the mobile phone can be loaded via a special Qi compatible charger (BMW recommends the specially developed wireless charging cases for iPhones for BMW).
- The mobile phone must not exceed the maximum size of approx. 151 x 74 x 16 mm.
- Use protective covers and covers only up to a maximum thickness of 2 mm. Otherwise, the charging function may be impaired.
- Ignition or operation ready.

Use the mobile phone
LED indicators
1. Open the center armrest, see the operating instructions for the vehicle.
2. Insert the mobile phone in the back of the holding clip and push the holding clip with the mobile phone backwards, arrow 1.
3. Insert the mobile phone with the display facing up into the front holder, arrow 2.

Color Meaning
Blue Device is charging.

Red Device is not loaded.

If applicable, excessive temperature on the mobile phone or foreign body in charge tray.
If the problem persists, contact a service partner of the manufacturer, another qualified service partner or a specialist workshop.

There was a new M3 on the showroom floor today and I noticed it had the wireless charging option on the window so I popped open the center console and checked it out. It looks just like any other snap-in.

Just got a car last week and have the wireless charging but didn't really get a chance to figure out a Qi Solution for the iPhone 7 plus. Looks like BMW made a case for the iphone 6 plus but things changed with the 7 and the location of things. Of course BMW will probably get to it in 2018 after the iphone 8 is released.
Also, the way the wireless charging is done in the 7 series seems different than the 3 series. I'm not even sure if the 7 plus with qi case will fit. Really brilliant on BMW's part.

It looks like a snap-in, but it's hard wired.

The German parts site did have a snap-in adapter with Qi listed about a year and a half ago, but I was unable to find it and it's no longer on their site.

The part # is 84212412369. I've googled it and found many listings, but it's never in stock.

If I'd been able to find it before I ordered my 440i that was delivered in June, 2017, I wouldn't have spent the $500 to get wireless charging in the new car.

I realize that one plug still free (below arm rest console) after instal the wireless charge, this free cable is for what?

Maybe we can use this additional entrance to plug an additional USB PORT (maybe using 6111925854 ), as the wireless charge is not using the DATA functionality of USB port of NBT.

Anyone tried ? Or know something about it ?

My poor German makes me understand it from below image :
“USB-Leitung (2), Stiftgehäuse 4-pol BL, klapperfrei befestigen (wird nicht mehr benötigt).”
