This is interesting, was always under the impression the JB4 was a fool proof method

I have the BM3 stage 1 and it's great. You can get the bundle for other OTS maps too if you plan to get other mods.

Yeah if you're not worried about warranty, just go for the flash tune!

Burgertuning must have improved the map on JB4. The website is now showing "Power gains of up to 80hp on a stock vehicle without the risks of flashing!" I still think BM3 is the better option. I've been tuned for about 2 years now. No real issues.

The "risks of flashing" is kindof funny. And stock vehicle... meaning OEM CP and IC... right. Talk about risks lol.

I believe they mean that the piggyback is more warranty-friendly than a flash tune not necessarily that there are any real risks from flashing.

At least I hope that's what they meant to say

Yeah i know what they meant, but its phrased generically in marketing speak and misleading to make such claims especially for a stock car.

Mild tune from MPPK + Dinantronics Sport piggyback was enough to blow the OE CP... the replacement (warranty) seems a little beefier, but I have aftermarket CP/IC waiting to be installed.

There's risk inherent to flashing anything whether it's a car, phone, whatever, but I think actual risk is pretty small. I've flashed hundreds of phones, tablets, PC and industrial firmwares, whatevers, without a problem.

Has anyone ever bricked a car from a bad flash for example if the battery is weak at the start and it craps out mid-flash?

yeah its possible but just put a charger on it. but honestly it doesn't take nearly as long to flash now as it used to. a full flash just takes minutes. updates and changes take 20 to 30 seconds. it's not much of an issue now.
