I doubt any catback is really that loud. I had the armytrix catback on the stock downpipe. Once I went catless the volume tripled.
I'm not 100% sure how the valve actually works, and I've never heard a straight-piped N55 in person, but valve open operation is considerably quieter than what I would imagine a straight pipe would sound like. It's still muffled to an extent even with the valve open.

Quick update: downpipe gets installed tomorrow, I'll update sometime over the weekend with some videos of the Turner exhaust paired to a catless downpipe

What downpipe did you decide to go with?

I went with CTS Turbo. Took forever to ship but fit great.

On another note, got everything installed but haven't gotten a chance to get any videos yet. First impressions though are that it's really not that much louder than with a stock downpipe. Maybe 30% louder? I'll do some decibel tests to compare and post videos shortly...

Ok, for the few of you that may have been anticipating this video, here ya go:

Sorry this is all I had time to film. I've been very busy lately, but I'll get some better more well-rounded videos in the future. In the mean time, I hope that video and this little review are sufficient: When I first picked up the car after the downpipe install and drove it home I was somewhat underwhelmed with the sound... it really wasn't that much louder. Then I flashed the proper map (stage 2) and it woke up a bit. Not sure if that's because of more boost pressure or more burbles or what, but now that it's on the right tune it's exactly what I was looking for. It's a good bit louder than with the stock downpipe, and it did pick up some rasp, but I'm very happy with how it sounds. Also, the valve in the muffler becomes MUCH more useful with the catless downpipe installed. There is now a far more noticeable difference in volume between valve open vs. closed operation, something that wasn't really true with the stock downpipe. Overall, I think this is a great exhaust to pair with a catless downpipe. It is definitely not obnoxiously loud, but certainly loud enough to turn heads when you drive down the road and have an audible presence wherever your driving. And as you can see, it does get pretty loud when you stomp on it... All in all, highly reccomend!

Very nice! Thank you for the review. Are you on oem burble settings or did you customize them?

Thanks! No my burble settings are customized. I have them totally off in comfort mode, and very aggressive in sport mode (3 duration, 10 aggressiveness).

Hey guys! Finally got around to installing my catback exhaust. Here's the video: https://youtube.com/shorts/4GICfNbJfPY?feature=share

So far love it! Not excessively loud, much deeper tone vs the stock exhaust. I enjoy the sound and look of it. Sounds super aggressive.. I do have a vibration roughly around 2k rpm only when the AC is running and its not consistent. But planing to put a down pipe in eventually too.

Has anyone, with the turner exhaust, experienced valve rattle? I've been trying to figure out ways to stop the rattling because obviously no one likes the rattling and it's frustrating coming from the stock exhaust rattle to the turner still having a rattle. It's intermittent but figured that I cannot be the only one that is being driven crazy from it. Any tips/tricks would be appreciated!

Yes, glad you brought that up. I should've updated this thread to note that. Yeah, I get really brutal valve rattle on cold starts. It's only on cold starts though, and once the cold start cycle is over, it won't rattle again. I've not yet come up with a solution... maybe worth reaching out to Turner.

Okay, yes mine is mostly only on cold starts. Sometimes it will rattle getting under boost while in comfort, but that's hard to tell unless I'm driving down an alley. I live in the north, so the colder weather has shown a lot less rattle. I plan on checking it out once warmer weather comes by. Beside the cringe on start up, the exhaust does sound amazing! I was almost positive that there would not be rattle with their genius valve/spring set up they provide, but I think it's the valve itself contacting the pipe.. might reach out to Turner and get their thoughts. Thanks for the feedback!

Agreed, other than the rattle, I do think it's a great exhaust! Please update if you hear anything from Turner, might reach out myself as well.

Wow! Exhaust looks and sounds great. Until I read through this thread I thought the company was called TUNER Motorsports. Not Turner. Tuner seems more logical.

Doing the same CTS Turbo DP/turner catback combo.. did you have clamp fitment issues? I don't see this fitting in anyway..

Looks like you ordered a 3.5'' clamp for a 4'' DP. The part number is wrong on several websites.

Yeah... looks like you received a PWG clamp for an EWG downpipe. I had no issues, I'm PWG and used the 3.5" PWG clamp.

Sounds great! Interesting to compare to my setup. I feel like the MPE has a slightly sharper tone? Definitely sounds slightly different to mine but I can't quite put my finger on what the difference is...

Huh didn't realize there was a turbo outlet diameter change going to the EWG turbo from PWG.. glad I did check before mid project! FCP euro only gives me the 0508 which is the 3.5" so I'll have to do some digging apparently lol. Thanks for the feed back!
