Great result!

New G20 appears to be a very good car in every area.

They say it only has a 40 litre fuel tank (in the figures at the end of the article). That can't be right surely?

That’s what I thought, surely the A4 is more of a competitor than the low volume XE!?

That 3 is going to be epic and blow the competition out of the water. Can't wait for the 340i and new M3.

I think the A4 has completely lost its way this generation and is desperate for a facelift, there is simply nothing special about it.I’d even go as far as saying the F3x is more special than the A4 I’ve sat in a couple of B9’s and the interior and tech felt very low rent compared to the competition.

I’d still much rather have one than an XE though!

40 litres, standard for the 320d (59 litres optional). 330i, 59 litres standard.

On that point we might have to disagree. Exterior is a little bland - although the S4 Avant is stunning - but the inside in my mind is better by a mile.

These tests never have all the options. I'd argue the new Volvo S60 is the car that should have been in the test. Or maybe even the Gulia given it's also RWD, like those in the test.

Have you used the infotainment system in the Alfa? It's shockingly bad. Worse than the XE's which is hardly the best.

The Alfa looks great and handles great though.

Yes, I commented that exact point as to why I wouldn't have one on the Alfa thread on the OT section.

Here I'm just pointing out that there's plenty rationale for other cars to have been included in the test.

Maybe the few i’ve been in / drove were low specc’d - the nav system system
seemed very dated, no online entertainment (use this a lot and would be a big miss), no wireless car play, no solution for in car emails (i use online mail in connected drive a hell of a lot on long commutes to check incoming emails), screen graphics looked low resolution and the bezel round the screen big, overall felt a good step behind the competition. I’ve never understood the obsession with charging £150 for the ambient light pack too which undoubtedly makes the cabin feel a lot more upmarket, it should be standard - I have heard the facelift is going to replace all the dated nav system with a new touchscreen design as is in all new audis, maybe this will help freshen things up.

40 litres is ridiculous for a 320d. One of the key advantages which diesel cars have over EVs is range, so to give that up to save a potential 10kg in the efficiency test (assuming they test with half a tank) seems a very poor decision.

I would like the 3 Series to have 59 litres as standard and 75 as an option.

At least with ICE we can refuel within about five minutes.

Remember the days we had tanks holding 5 - 7 gallons. My first car (Vauxhall Viva) gave me about 200 miles on a tank full.

It's all about CO2 figures and fleet targets for the manufacturers. "Every little helps".

Standard Manufacturer's trick. Smaller fuel tank means a lower mass 'base' vehicle. Then in all the marketing blurb you'll see that the weight is xkg lighter than the previous model....
