I'm not sure how accurate that is. Plugging a rft tire in no way impacts the integrity of the 'run flat' component of the tire. RFT's are RFTs because they have a much stiffer sidewall that can support the weight of the vehicle without the aid of air. Plugging a hole in the tread has no bearing on the RFTs ability to run flat.

If you damage the sidewall of a RF then yes, it is done but that is no different that damaging the sidewall of a normal tire.

Could very well be the case. My comment is based on BMWs official line on this. Also have read different reports in different places about RFTs not being able to traverse the distance they are supposed to after they are flat, if a they have been repaired for a puncture.

well my dealership offered to fix it. it all depends where the puncture is. if it was in the tread is it repairable, in the sidewall it is not.

they just filled it with air while the nail was still in and said to drive normal. the only way a run flat tire can be messed up is if you drove on it with 0 psi.
