Tracking 330d
I got an idea to go to a track with my 330d. It does not have msport brakes but the regular ones, and regular 5w-30 oil. What do I need to do to it so it does not blow up, brakes don't overheat and I can continue to drive it after? It is regular RWD.
Or the best thing is to sell it and get 340i? |

Hey. I have a BMW F31 335d xDrive so we have the same N57 engine.
The chassis itself isn't so bad. Some improvements can be made to make it more suitable for track. I've taken every car I have owned to the Nürburgring Nordschleife and I found that the power of my 335d was enough. It was more the handling department and potentially the brakes that needed improving. Your setup, of course, is very track dependent. If you're going to a place like the Ring, you want a compliant suspension that isn't too stiff. The Ring isn't a particularly brake heavy circuit but you can cook the brakes with inexperience because you're not sure where to brake etc. What are the modifications to the car so far? |

I’m also looking at tracking my 330D, weren’t sure whether to create a new thread or not.
What are the N57s like for oil starvation during cornering load? Baffled sump necessary? How are the automatic 8HP boxes with for overheating? Is an aftermarket gearbox oil cooler needed? Thanks |
