Rear brake disc stuck

Dear members,

I would like to replace the rear brake discs on my F31. After getting everything loose, my disc seems to still be stuck behind something. I can move it a bit, but I can’t get it completely off. It seems to “spring” back every time.

The handbrake is off and the gearbox is in neutral.

Thanks in advance for thinking along!

Kind regards,

Assuming that you mean the rotor did you remove the small screw that holds it to the hub? Did you manually back off the parking brake adjustment star wheel ?

Thanks for your answer man!

Yes i removed the little screw, but no, i did not manually release the pressure on the handbrake spring, so put the haldbrake off is not enough?

And do i need to turn it upwards to release pressure or downwards?

Thanks in advance!

It's not the handbrake spring, it's the shoes inside the drum section of the rotor. If not backed off they have a tendency to prevent the rotor from being pulled. Google it.

Be sure to reverse the procedure when you reassemble. There are videos how to adjust the star wheel to have the parking brakes hold without dragging.
