Engine replaced by BMWNA; then Drivetrain Malfunction indicator came on
My 2013 F30 335i xDrive sedan began to exhibit a noise in the engine compartment which was first diagnosed as a faulty belt tensioner.
My previous thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1210473 The root cause was found: excessive connecting rod bearing wear. BMWNA quickly approved a full engine replacement. The fuel injectors were also replaced. So far the dealer's response to this problem has been exceptional. I picked the vehicle and drove home via local roads. The dreaded 'Drivetrain Malfunction' indicator came on within 1 mile of leaving the dealer. This problem never occurred since I owned the vehicle. 3 years is a long time. Turned around and returned to the dealer. It's not clear if this problem may be related to the engine replacement. Will update this thread with more information as it becomes available. Sharing an update after engine replacement. Picked up the car. Everything is perfect.
The shop foreman tested the vehicle extensively and suggested to service the front brakes under BMW maintenance program. The front rotors and pads were also replaced at no charge. |
