2012 328i, 120,000 kilometres.
Steering had been feeling "notchy" and sometimes stiff during the colder winter days. Was fine after weather warmed up. Just replaced both front control arms and right side ball joint after blowing out front right side tire on giant pothole. Took car to dealer for wheel alignment. Was told there was recall on steering. They ended up replacing the entire steering rack under the recall. Never received notice of recall or found any when I looked up the VIN. Just happy it's fixed at no cost. |

Unexpected Expenses:
at 110,051 km (68382 miles)... Replaced the defective horns, both the low frequency and high frequency units, under extended warranty. This appears to be a common problem with the F30. Mine stopped working after a car wash in the winter time. I am convinced water and ice caused it. Who knows. at 126,793 km (78785 miles)... Replaced LH exterior mirror assembly (just after my extended warranty expired!!). I will only say that my anus is about 2 inches wider after I bent over to pay out of pocket!! As with the horns, the mirror motor stopped working (folding in/out) after a car wash in the winter time. at 145,800 km (90595 miles)... Replaced the gas tank vent valve, as it was sticking since original purchase at 67,000 km. It would trigger a check engine light. It did this only infrequently, so I ignored it. However, the problem became more and more frequent as of late, so I replaced it. It wasn't a terribly expensive fix, and I noticed improvements to fuel efficiency! It was a worthwhile fix. Other than that, normal wear and tire replacement items and consumables. |

I'm currently at 113,273 miles. This morning on my way to work, I noticed some smoke creeping from under the hood. Pulled over in a panic in case I had a blown coolant line, turns out my valve cover gasket is finally giving out. Tell-tale oil drip onto the downpipe, right by the O2 sensor. Checked my oil level and it was fine so I drove the rest of the way to work.
Looks like I have a project to take care of on my next day off. Simultaneously dreading and looking forward to doing this in my garage. Anyone with tips/hints, feel free to chime in. Otherwise, I'm basically gonna read up on newtis and follow eatsleepdrive's YouTube diy.

92500 KM (thankfully 2k before my extended warranty expires) high pressure AC line was leaking. Pre cat O2 sensor also went bad and triggered MIL. Both being replaced right now. Man having a bad o2 makes you burn through fuel...

As I approach 100K in my 2015 320, are there any major maintenance items that I should be aware of? These engines aren't timing belts are they? Would hope they're chains? I have read a few posts about valve cover gaskets beginning to seep, etc, those are all minor things IMO. Would also throw coil packs in that minor bucket.. Anything out of the ordinary start to pop up with high mileage F30s?
I put a fair amt of miles on my car per year, roughly 20K, and the only thing I've had to do since buying this car a year ago is address the AC which was acting up due to some software bug that required the dealer to reflash the ECU. Besides that I have just done two oil changes and that's it.

Not really any issues. Only tie rod ends $700 and tail light connector pin melted $200. Overall solid car! But not keeping it long term. Mine is also the N26 SULEV. No timing chain issue either but I will sell it long before that has a chance to kick in, getting a 535i M Sport next, most likely F10 LCI

As for as 100k maintenance - I would look in to having the tranny fluid checked out for burning and probably serviced/refilled - there are a million threads about this, but ZF8 has a special procedure so hire someone who knows them; check for coolant or oil leaks/seepage; check reservoirs and hoses for brittleness; possibly spark plugs; engine and cabin filters etc. Last edited by CrumbyButter; 08-03-2019 at 08:15 AM.. |

Now at 186K...
Just swapped my motor mounts and upgraded to the MHI big turbo since hte OE unit was leaking and everyone likes a good upgrade! And I swapped in new suspension with Bilstein B8 Sport+, Dinan springs, and a set of camber plates. The OE stuff had been last swapped at 80K (F) and 100K (R) so I upgraded this too.

2014 335i. Currently sitting at 129k miles. Purchased the car CPO in 2017 @ around 40k miles. I have had the car in the shop two times since I have owned it for Valve cover gasket replacement and Oil filter housing gasket replacement under warranty. The car has been solid! (hopefully I didnt jinx myself..).

I'm at 97k miles and no leaks. I will do it only if a leak is apparent because it is not like it is a sudden catastrophic failure and the car will stop running. So might as well wait until it actually starts happening.

I would walk out into my garage after parking and could smell that I had an oil leak. As a CPO car at the time it was easy to just bring in to the dealership and let them diagnose/repair any leaks. Now that im out of warranty I will keep an eye out for leaks and fix as they arise...which I believe will be sooner than later because my valve cover looks to be leaking again..

2018 430i. 51k miles. No issues so far. Oil consumption is nil between changes. Replaced rear pads and rotors at 49k. Fronts still have life left to them.

I have 328i 2013, 80 000 km.
So far had the following issues: 1) replacement of thermostat at ~60k (800 CAD) 2) there was some issue with electronics - basically when you stop and engine goes off - then it was turing on suddenly with some warning message on the screen - can't really remember what was the falty part - luckely for me they replaced under the warranty. 3) had low coolant level warning once but did not see it again. 4) after recent service few weeks back - was advised to replace front arm bushings - another 800 CAD. Now thinking if this is the time to change the car or keep it running for another while. |

2014 335i M sport 74k miles on the clock, cars been pretty reliable considering how much of an ass beating I give her😂. Bought in January of 18 with 34k miles, blew the chargepipe the next day. Replaced with a VRSF one. 56k miles replaced plugs, coils and oil filter housing gasket. 67k miles replaced valve cover gasket. Changed oil every 5k miles with liqui moly 5w30 and did the ceratec treatment. I've got thru 2 sets of rear tires and im on my 2nd set of front tires. Brake pads were replaced 30k miles ago with R1 concepts ceramic pads. Still on original rotors, will need to be done soon as they have seen better days. Currently has an injen intake, vrsf catless downpipe, and bootmod3 stage 1 tune. Oil pan gasket is starting to leak a little so that will be tackled soon. Haven't really thrown any codes except for a coolant temp sensor code a couple weeks ago in which my oil temp Gauge wasn't reading cleared the code and cars been running fine since. Now the ground where the left tail lamp light connects has melted so I'll get an intermittent warning for my left rear turn signal, and brake light being out. Lowkey might be low on blinker fluid hehe.

Speakers replaced under warranty? I just bought a CPO 2016 340i and one of the speakers started rattling a couple weeks into me owning it. I don't even like having the bass high . Wondering how the warranty works in this case, am I technically CPO-only (which wouldn't cover speakers) or does the original 4yr/50k mile warranty still apply to me even though I'm the 2nd owner? I'm at 42k miles.
