Any secret to reset/new tpms sensors?

Hey yall! I picked up a set of OEM 447m 19s with factory tpms sensors. Previous owner assures me the sensors worked fine when he took off the wheels. 447s off a 2016 F32 on my 14 F32.

I have done the reset function like three times, takes some miles of thinking about it and comes back with a tpms error..

Is there some secret to this? A reset through bimmercode? My local tire shop says maybe I need their tpms reset service and kit at $25? Huh?

What am I missing guys, assuming these sensors are working fine?

Thanks!

My guess is the frequency of the new tpms does not work for your car. The changeover was 2014/2015. I can’t remember exactly. You will probably need the correct sensors installed.

Well I hope they work.. looking at ECSTuning, picking my car and a 2016 LCI, both F32s and the OEM sensors are exactly the same.

I hope the $25 "reset" from the local tire store will take care of it.

What is your car's production date? The changeover was around March 2014.

My guess is you have the old sensors since your car is pre-Marchish-2014.

Hopefully your tire shop sorts it out for you.

I still think you need to put different sensors. Bring one of your old wheels with you and have them scan that too.

If you have a local Discount Tire store, they will do the "reset" or scan for you. They did it for me and didn't charge me.

Great suggestion, I will bring one of my original 18s with me.

If you look at the cap on your stem you should be able to tell if you have HUF or VDO type TPMS.

The vdo valve stem cap looks different than the huf. You can google it for images.

Well crap.. sensors still not detected. sensors supposedly reset and then reset the TPMS through the iDrive (now 3 times) and no luck.

I am probably going to need to gave the tire pulled off an 18 wheel, and then compared to the sensor on the newer 19.

Have your old sensors put on the new wheels, or find a set of the older style in the classified section or on eBay. Then sell the new style sensors.

yup.. just wish I didnt have the tire shop cost to.go with it. Local Discount Tires sells a set I thing for 80 (plus install). Figure have them do that then sell the sensors that come out to defray costs.

$80 doesnt seem right. You can get a set from RG Sport for $140 though and they will work perfect. Just be sure to give them the last 7 of your VIN.

Am I missing something? If you still have your original 18" rims just have them put those ones on your new wheels. I took a set of 20" rims into Discount Tire 2 weeks ago to have them install new tires, dropped off my F32 and told them to take the sensors from the 18's on the car and put them in the 20's. They did the remount/balance on the 18s for free, didn't pay a penny extra.

I am keeping both sets of wheels.. the 18s will become dedicated winters, the 19s will be dedicated summers.

Got it. If you need new ones I bookmarked these a while back from another member here: https://www.rgsportshop.com/index.ph...product_id=218
