Sounds nice apart from the Tanzanite blue and cerium grey. 😂
If we all liked the same the roads would look very boring!!

They would indeed! For what it's worth I think you're wrong though; no issue with Tanzanite Blue and Cerium Grey on the outside, the problem is with the red leather on the inside - the interior needs to be Ivory White Merino with Piano Black trim (all IMHO of course!).

The colour choice on the M340 is poor... I like the blue that Terry has but it’s not really me, tanzanite is too dull on a dull day, I won’t have black or white, my Mini is primer grey so I wouldn’t have Dravit...

Black inside would be fine. Fineline trim.

A dark metallic red like berry red (?) would be perfect. Anything but black or cerium for the wheels and grill...

I think a tune and exhaust similar to the MPPSK is already incorporated in the M340i, which accounts for the higher horsepower and torque figures.

I have MPPSK on my 2018 440i and wouldn't miss it 90% of the time, either... but that remaining ten percent is absolutely glorious. The seal bark when it shifts under hard throttle and the rat-a-tat when you let off... they just make my day when heading home after a hard day at work.

The drone would be really annoying if there was no way to shut it off, but the hooligan exhaust sounds only come into play in sport modes, so the car is pretty quiet in comfort and eco modes. During long trips on California freeways, cruising at 75+ in eco mode, it's as quiet as my wife's luxury spec 300D (unless you stomp on the gas and the car becomes a beast again).

The exhaust on the m340i isn't going to be in the same league as the mppsk, it's probably quieter than the stock 340i thanks to the ppf.

No ppf in California... yet. The dealer's M340i sounds about the same as my car.

Right, sadly not the case in the UK. I'd be surprised if it was quite as loud as the mppsk, which is in effect straight through with no baffling from the cat.

Fair enough! I do like the Tanzanite though, and the red/black interior looks great on this video here:

https://youtu.be/Cy5qI1GBE9A

I'm coming out of a red car so want a nice blue, maybe the Individual blue on teaston old F31? (I think it was his)

Another point likely to divide opinion: debadged. I really dislike the M font. Give me the regular model numbering any day!

Edit: It was Daftasabrush F31 340 in San Marino Blue.

G21 M340i would look stunning in this colour!

You can have the car in any colour you want they offer over 100 of them but you have to pay, people seem to be willing to spend £1000's on options yet complain about the colour choice yet there are loads to choose from.

Dip your bread in

Just select your model and it brings up all the options in terms of paint there are two tabs standard and special

Brilliant, I like that.

Policy is fine I think. Same with LR, there was the free white, 6 or so standard metallics for £800, another 4 or 5 special (mica) metallics at £1700 or so and then the inividual type line at £3.5 k or more.

I think it's fantastic that you can have over 100 paint finishes even on a 320d, yet people complain about the choice, although perhaps they aren't aware.

Porsche/lambo/Ferrari colours on there as well, historical BMW colours, M colours etc....

They will even paint it a colour other than the 120 shown so long as it's practical.

This is a better link as it also lets you do the G21 whereas yours doesn't (for me at least).

It's really impressive. We all happily drop thousands on options, as you said above. Worth paying more for the perfect colour. The Disco is the first car where I went for the premium type metallic, albeit mainly because they withdrew that standard metallic we wanted originally.

The one I linked to works for me perfectly, just select the model from the drop downs, ah I see touring yes use yours.

Am I the only one who picks a colour and then a few weeks or months later wishes I had picked a different one? Its one of the reasons why I will take a stock car in a colour I quite like as it might be my favourite later!

The trouble with individual paint is just that - its individual, and whilst you might think it is the dogs bollox, to others its just blue (or whatever colour...)

You are not. My car is dark grey with silver wheels, just the scheme I wanted. It's looking particularly dull after not being washed since the start of September.

Enter, stage left, a LR assist loan car in the reverse scheme. Light grey (a colour that was launched when we were ordering and couldn't be seen in the metal) with black wheels. And clean.

Really like the look of the loaner, as does my wife. Thankfully it's coal mine black inside, so ours (glacier inside) will still feel good when it returns.

Totally happy with my last choice. To think I nearly went for Carbon Black *shudder* ;-)

Now that's a colour that I did not regret for even one minute of ownership :

Silver does suit the GC as well, though, a good choice - even if controversial at the time

I think many people realise you can have pretty much any colour you want if you're prepared to pay a hefty sum to get it, the complaint is more in regard to the lack of choice when it comes to the no-cost or (relatively!) low cost colours. From what I understand most of the Individual colours shown on the visualiser cost rather more than than any of the option packs available on the M340i and, as they'll add little or nothing to the GFV, that's probably another £50/month on a 4-year PCP (more if the term's shorter).

Having said that BMW are probably no different from the likes of Audi or Mercedes in this respect (infact arguably better as those two tend to offer only solid white as a free colour). However, just because their rivals are even worse doesn't make BMW's choice of standard colours an especially good or appealing one (all IMO of course!).
