air filter box question

hi, going to change my air filter. i have the replacement bosh one
i have heard some people removing the foam at the bottom of the air filter box. is there a benefit to doing this or shall i leave this foam in

Not sure about foam removal but suggest a more free flow reusable aftermarket air filter such as aFe. Better air flow will give you a performance bump. Washable in warm dish detergent water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. Pop in your original filter during aFe filter cleaning.

The foam just dampens intake sound.

Got no idea. That was the manufacturer's website which is usually priced higher. Google the part number and you'll find several retailers pricing it at $61.

i removed mine, combined with the silicon airbox elbow you do get a bit more turbo noise which is nice
