I'm lazy, has anyone done a back-to-back dyno with and without the DS-1?

back to back dynos on same day with a downpipe install is asking a lot from an end user.. I have never really seen one on any brand.. Its a lot of work, so unless shop doing the DP install has a dyno it will be tough to do. Would be awesome if someone could do it.

Great post by the OP. I'm thinking of going JB4 only with a downpipe and nothing else. I think that should be on the upper limit before you get throttle closure.

That will definitely get you some nice reliable power and not to mention the amazing turbo spool you get with a catless downpipe.

When you replace the downpipe on the 340i do you need to replace either the upper/lower clamps like people say on the 335i? If so does anyone have a link to buy the clamp or clamp kit with gasket. I looked on ecs there website was kinda difficult to navigate.

I got the intake already installed. And just ordered the DP catless. I will call the guys to schedule a dyno before i install DP, and then run with DP, no jb4, and then DP with jb4.

Any new thoughts on the DP?

Did anyone end up running dynos on JB4 with and without the DP? Trying to decide if I should install mine or not...

Just do it. The sound and quicker spool on their own are so worth it.

biggest limitation with jb without EWG connector is that you cannot change / offset the waste gate position, therefore even if you ask for more boost the ECU limits the amount of waste gate and therefore you do not make your target boost

basically the ECU only allows the waste gate to vary in a tight range for boost control that limits what a simple piggy back can do

in my experience DP is pretty effective in generating 3-5 PSI more boost at effectively the same waste gate position

hence I would conclude that JB+ DP may be perfect combo...or at least will allow you to get more boost without adding the EWG wiring

Sorry, I should have mentioned that my used JB4 came with the EWG wiring. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I'll go ahead and get it installed.

I might add I have been running an o2 spacer that eliminates the CEL on a catless downpipe for the past 5k plus miles and no hiccups.. the JB+ with catless downpipe has been the perfect combo for my application. Absolutely flawless with no "drivetrain malfunctions" that some of my friends get while running a JB4.
