Hi all I have a 2017 430i and wanted to swap my muffler for a 435i or 440i muffler so I can install quad pipes on it. I purchased a 435i axle back exhaust and when I went to install it on my car, it didn’t fit. The 435i axle back was much smaller. Attached is a picture where there are two circles, the distance between the hanger tips is about 33” (the 440i is the same length) but I measured my car and it needs to be about 38-39” to be able to hang from my car in the back. Anyone have any tips on how I can make this fit. I was told if you get a 435i or 440i exhaust it should fit no problem but my only thought is that I would have to remove where the hook hangers are and move them closer together so that it can hang. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I put a 40i exhaust on my 330i. Pretty easy direct swap. From my research, the 328i and 335i have the same mounting points. Whereas the 330i and the 340i have the same mounting points. You may be SOL with the 35i exhaust.

Hey I appreciate the response. I think you might be right, I am going to need a 440/340i exhaust but what’s strange is, I reached out to someone with a 340i exhaust which should be the same as the 440i, and I asked him to measure from tip to tip of where the exhaust hangs and it was the same measurement as the 435i. Maybe the 440i exhaust is wider and fits without having to re-mount it on different hangers, we will have to see

Can you find a part number on the muffler? Could you have one from a 235/240 by mistake?

2 series mufflers wont be really any different form 3/4 series ones. The difference is the Nxx vs Bxx engines. The B46/B58 have different exhaust pipe routing, angles, and hangers than the N26/N55 engines do. If you have a 30i you need a 40i exhaust to do what you are wanting, return or resell the 35i one and get the right one to save yourself a lot of headache!

Ya this is true, I tried installing a 335i muffler on my 330i and it didn't fit. Had to get a 340i muffler instead.
