Best weed killer for block paving.

I have seen a thread before on here regarding weed killer for block paving and cannot find it, I remember people recommending a good tried and tested way of getting rid of them, so I am asking for help regarding my problem.

I will shortly be cleaning the drive and re sanding so can some one help me with a way to getting rid of the weeds.

They will just go black so yes if you want them gone deweed first, but so far very little has come back, though it’s best to top up every 6-12 months depending on how quick anything comes back....

Within 7 to 10 days you should certainly see a difference. The weeds turn less green then brown and start to shrivel up

Did it rain after you sprayed them or was it very bright sun. Either will harm the effectiveness of the product

No rain, fairly sunny but hardly scorching, maybe 13 degrees.

Yep Gallup XL 100% kills everything, nothing grows back at all!

The only thing is it might leave white marks on the pavers.

My recommendation - do the 'full job' for lasting results.

Manually weed the block paving.
Use a pressure washer to blast the joints clean - only use the power that you need, rather than max pressure just for hell of it.
Apply liquid weedkiller.
Let the entire area dry thoroughly including deep into the joints.
Brush kiln dried sand across the paved area. Leave for a day or two then top-up. This has to be done when there's no risk of rain.
Brush excess sand away.
Apply a block paving sealant. This seeps into the fresh kiln dried sand and sets it solid, as well as sealing the blocks.

I did my driveway last summer and it's still completely weed-free. No weeds, no moss.

Prior to that it was a real pain to keep clear of growth as we live adjacent to open countryside and have a lot of trees in our area.

It takes some time and effort to get right, but 100% worth it.

I used Eco-Friendly Block Paving Sealer from Smartseal.

Follow the instructions carefully, including using a squeegee on a pole (broom handle) to spread the sealant evenly after you've applied it from a watering can which has a spray bar.

If the driveway has a lot of moss and is a fair size it might be worth hiring or employing someone with one of these, then apply weedkiller and kiln dried sand. They make a lot less mess than power washing.

I know there are many products available on the market but a simple and inexpensive way to get rid of weeds and other growth such as grass is vinegar. I purchase it at Costco in 5 litre containers and either use it straight or diluted with water.
