Instrument Cluster to change

Hi guys i want to change my old f30 cluster to new one which i bought from second hand shop. I took it to my local shop they checked it working and told me it has diifferent mileage from your own and you must buy a new chip for it, briefly they told me so expensive price. Does there anyone that can help me with this issue?
