440/340 - can I add a hitch receiver for bike

Anyone have any luck with a hitch receiver for a bike rack on a 340/440xi. Also - if I order with the M performance power and sound kit will this be a problem? This includes a new high power exhaust.

I would assume execuhitch makes one for your car like they do for mine, if not, I'd expect them to make one shortly. The receiver plugs into a socket in the towbar and is removable, so there's nothing that shows when it's removed. The setup is similar to the OEM hitch/rear rack/towing setup they sell in Europe, where the "bar" is mounted behind the crash bumper.

Yes, they sell goofy cross bars with xtra-tall feet. Generally OEM bike racks are crap and several years, if not decades behind what is being offered direct by Thule, Saris, 1up, Kuat, etc. Roof racks cost you mpg even when the bike is not attached, so you end up spending more money all the time, not to mention the extra drag of having the bike out of the slipstream. These days, there are just too many benefits to having a receiver rack and you only go to roof if you need extra space in addition to a receiver rack or for a few other unique situations. The thing is that almost every car can be had with a towbar/receiver. This is because almost every car that is also sold in Europe has an option for one, they just don't offer the option in the US most of the time. The trick is getting it of course.

I have the invisihitch, which I think is the same as the execuhitch, on my 340ix. Invisble when not in use, plug and play to use and hands down the best hitch I've ever had.

Plus 1 on Invisihitch. I had a regular hitch on my '06 E91. This is much nicer for the plug n play factor.

Try this site https://www.amazon.com/Vont-Recharge.../dp/B078TB9TMK because I bought from there and I was really satisfied with the quality. In general, I am an idealistic person who always buys only products that he is sure of and I don't like to buy what is not of high quality, that's why you can really rely on my recommendation. Any friend of mine knows that he can turn to me and I will always give him good advice. Same with flashlights for bicycles that you are looking for. I'm sure you'll like it.

I advise a trailer hitch for the bicycle to tow the F30. Far more exercise.

+1 for Invisihitch. I have had one on my 340i for years and it's great to be able to remove the receiver easily when not in use.

The only downside, which is more related to the 340i than the hitch, is that I can bottom it out leaving my driveway.

I've got an MSport Gran Coupe. I got a Curt hitch receiver, which is a fixed hitch Really inexpensive (about $200 shipped) and installed it myself. Figured if I didn't like it I was only out $200 and an afternoon. But I've been pretty happy with it. It sticks out just underneath and flush with my Msport rear valance, so no cutting, and it's pretty much unnoticeable. Given how low the Msport is, it'll drag on some steeper driveways, so that's a downside compared to the InvisiHitch. But it's better than the Invisihitch in that bike racks and ball mounts don't extend out as much.
