Phone contacts not showing when someone calls

Ok now my brain hurts with this one, when someone calls me my idrive and the dash display shows the callers number...even though they are saved in the contacts list? I have a NBT and have unpaired and repaired and nothing seems to fix it....any ideas?

You are not saying what phone device you are using....?

If Apple, make sure that the option "Sync Contacts" in the settings of the corresponding Bluetooth device is enabled.

If Android or other.... bummer

Yup I'm on an iPhone 12 with the latest iOS, and all of those are ticked so I'm stumped!

Hm, have you selected to import contacts in iDrive? Remember there was such an option when pairing.

I've had similar issue in the past, but for me it was the Sync Contacts thing in the phone.

Does it happen when it’s an iOS caller? (Ie it’s a contact that has an iPhone too)

I think I've cracked it. I switched off the contacts sync, and then back on again and it seemed to have worked, and the other caller was my work android phone so god knows why I looses the sync at least I know of the fix now

FYI, for the majority of people on the planet who have Android phones, contact synching works fine too. I continue to be nonplussed by BMW's slavish devotion to Apple. I could have Android Auto with every run of the mill, pedestrian Hyundai, Nissan, or Toyota but not my 2020 F32? (yes, I know that are offering it now but only on iDrive 7). Frustrating.

Dealt with this since iOS 13.1 I think, the fix will work for a bit before it goes back to just numbers again... at least in my experience and a few others I saw

Also, my text messages come through in the office part of the idrive, but my emails won't, and my emails and text messages work when the work android phone is paired up as well, is there something that the idrive doesn't like about the default Apple email client for emails? Any fixes or ideas?

Funny...except that you can get Android Auto in Aston Martins, Audis, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Land Rovers, Maseratis, and Mercedes. So it's less "premium" than pretentiousness.

I've had this problem ever since iOS updated to .... I'm not even sure what version. I deleted my phone an re-paired, and that fixed it for the first text I got, but then the names dropped again. I even upgraded my phone and it still does it. I don't know if there's any fix.

So bloody annoying that the android phone works ok with office with text messages and email but my iPhone only works with the text messages not emails
