Hi there, I am near Sunset Place and am interested.

So I understand, this thing sits inline and is a selectable input on the idrive system? When it is active, my phone can play via Bluetooth through the stereo? Do I need an aux analog input to do this?

I am a highly technical person but it is hard for me to conceptualize how this thing actually functions and is interfaced with as I read information that seems contradictory.

well yeah you hook it up to the headunit/ radio box and with the menu button you can alternate from Idrive OS to the MMI once you're set up with wireless carplay you won't have to set it up as Bluetooth... but yes it'll play thru Bluetooth and no you don't need an aux input you just need to have it set under that for it to function with audio
