Not a Porsche fan boy but....

Don't get me wrong they are very nice cars and seeing some of the cars others have on here they look great but they have never made me want one over anything else. Years ago I specifically went TVR over boxter for that reason but appreciate they have moved on a lot since then. This one (rear wing and cost aside) does look to be amazing though and can only imagine how good to drive it is. |

My Cayman handles exquisitely, but after having a M4 with around 500bhp I always wonder what it would be like with another 100bhp, especially when going along Hangar straight and seeing the GT3s waltzing off in to the distance!
I think this would be extraordinary to drive, especially in track. I'm less convinced it's lots better as a road car, as more aero means stiffer spring rates, which means very firm ride. But who am I kidding, I'd have one in heartbeat if I could get a slot. Fat chance! These will going for close to £200k when they get flipped is my guess.

To be honest, my GT3 was really too much for the public highways, let alone an RS... although you could live with it more as I had some of the creature comfort's like sports seats (I know, but my fat ass is uncomfortable in buckets after an hour) and the front axle lifter... But perhaps using mine for the daily commute, and to go to Tesco and B&Q was not quite as Porsche intended it... But, if I had the cash, I would certainly be tempted by something Porsche GT again... Silverstone is mental for track days, though, as it is so open.. You can feel like you are going slow... But, it's pretty "safe" as far as things go, so you are less likely to do something expensive if you have an off... Unlike, say, Oulton Park...

Som elf the options are incredible.
3D printed soft medium or hard seats in CF chassis. It will be a track monster. Base price as usual for the unobtainable items is very treasonable!

I've managed to resist the Weissach package, so have managed to come in at £126k.... I may send it to a dealer, just for a laugh. If I actually got a slot I'd totally get one.

As much as I’d like one, allocations aside etc
But if i was in the position to buy, I think I’d go 997.2 GT3 RS, having driven a friends across Germany, via the ring and Stuttgart it is in my mind automotive perfection, whilst not as fast around a track as the modern stuff it was equally at home on track or on the road topping (limiting factor me not the car) out at 186mph 😂 |

I can see the investment case but I just do not see the point of spending that much on an actual car for track use. Something like a Caterham Seven is probably far more fun as lower limits and better value

He's responsible for organising trackdays for the Lotus Seven & Caterham Club, so spends plenty of time on track. He's also spent his working life in the Automotive industry. Obviously he loves his Seven, but speaks very highly indeed of his GT3(s). If I pushed him to answer which was better on track, I think he'd struggle to name a favourite. In my own experience on track, I've done a trackday with a GT4-owning mate. I was in my previous Seven (140bhp) and was making mincemeat of all the high-powered stuff there like M2s, M5s and AMGs. The GT4 however was very quick and was a match for me on lap times. The brakes especially were very impressive!

I'd love a Caterham as well, and they're definitely great fun on a track, and a lot cheaper to run. The issue for me is the usability elsewhere, I'm not committed enough to use one extensively on the road. For track use I'd want to trailer it, so then you need room for that, as well as a suitable tow car.
The GT4 allows me to turn up, sort tyre pressures, and then just drive. Minimal hassle, and pleasant to use on the road.

Asked the question of the local dealer today - pretty much knew the answer - only one allocated per year and already with a name against it. Seems it may be as rare as the 911R so expect them to be flipped for £200k in fairly short order…
