2018 F32 25k Miles and 4 Bent Rims
Took my 2018 F32 in for scheduled maintenance and the dealer called me and stated I had 4 bent rims and 4 tires with uneven tread wear.
For the low low price of $2100 they would make all of my problems go away. Repair the rims, balance and give me 4 new tires. 2 of the tires have been replaced since I got her due to a bubble and a straight up flat. Car is a lease and I live in NYC. I have noticed zero issues with the drive even while doing autocross a month ago. I feel like doing this work would be a complete waste of money as I will have the same issue by my next oil change. Thank you NYC roads! If I don't lease another one they will probably bang me out for this at lease end. If I do they will probably look the other way and then I will have 4 brand new tires and rims to destroy. Thoughts? |

Highly unlikely lease inspector will be able to visually determine wheels being bent....tires are a whole different Oprah and are much easier to gauge wear .

Whole different Oprah reminds me of the SNL skit where she changes weight and hair each time the camera pans away.
Get rid of the run flats, perhaps increase sidewall a tad if you're especially worried, and you'll be golden. Chicago driver here, and I am sooooooooo happy I got rid of the stock run flats! They are so harsh on the rims and the suspension!! |

It's not that 19s are frail, it's that the sidewalls are too short to absorb pothole impact. They look nice, but aren't practical in winter above the Mason-Dixon Line.

Picked up a set of 397s (18s) off Craigslist for winters and they will stay on through April. Switch to 19s (704s) for the summer and then back in December. No guarantees but the yearly swap worked great on my E90 both in terms of winter traction and wheel preservation. And if the 19s get bent, I can put summers on the 18s!

If there are no symptoms, there isn't any compelling reason to replace or repair the wheels until the lease is up. The condition of tires at lease return milestone is well documented in the lease contract. Most dealers will ignore minor issues (like scratched wheels) if you are leasing another BMW vehicle. Tires do have to comply with lease return conditions.

Your car will definitely let you know if your bent rims need repair. I won't ride nice.
