F30 lifetime coolant for 100k miles doable?
My car is due for a brake fluid change. The local dealer has a coolant + brake special for $300, so my leaning is just go for the combo deal, as brake flush standalone is $225.
$130-$150 is local Indy prices for each job. So is 100k lifetime coolant doable? My coolant is losing its blue hue, plus the pH now is 7(neutral) while brand new is 9. Any opinion on change or not change? |

Mine(6 years and 60k miles) will be dropped off at dealer next week for the same combo deal, but some shops advise against doing it since the flush can stress out aging components(e.g. hoses) and induce a $$$ repair! In my case, the fading color and the dropping pH seem to be clues of inhibitors wearing out, but in NorCal climate that probably will be OK for another 4 years/40k miles. It looks like my car had a coolant thermostat recall 2.5 years ago, and invoice only said 1L of coolant was added, so it sounds like a coolant service will be in order.

For $300, agree do both. Coolant is maybe 3 years, 5 MAX imho.
