Downpipe choice

Just picked up a 2015 335i xDrive m sport, 8 speed auto. Car did have the MPPK. I put a MHD stage 1 flash, just ordered a VRSF 5" HD FMIC and charge pipes. I want to make the car a little louder and increase performance. I want to keep the stock resonator and axleback. Any good suggestions? Best way to handle the CEL issues that come with the DP change? Anything else I should take a look at?

VRSF is a great catless DP choice. It will make the car louder and a lot of people prefer the exhaust note with stock exhaust and catless DP. Your MHD tune will suppress the CEL for the catless DP.

That is good to know about the MHD suppression. We can get by with 1 not ready monitor here.

I picked up a evolution catless DP from a member here. Intercooler and charge pipes will be here tomorrow. Dinan springs and bump stop kit showed up today. Going to be very busy soon

Missouri is the same with 1 monitor not ready but it cannot be the cat monitor. I went with the catted Fabspeed, I love it. I didn't want to mess with any emissions issues and I felt I didn't want my car as loud with a catless, also, I didn't want my car to smell with no cat.

Car I'd say is about 10-15% louder, not that significant, you can hear the turbo a lot better when it spools and there is a nice natural burble. I can definitely tell the car has more low end pull, definitely can feel the performance upgrade, I'm going to install bootmod3 soon!

I've read people say that catless downpipes give off an awful smell. But other people post how great they are without mentioning the smell. Any comments on the smell from those who have them? Thanks.

There is definitely a smell but I kind of like it. Smells like a racetrack in my garage in the morning. I rarely smell it while driving though. I do have a tune and am running an E30 mix which reduced the smell.

I just sold my 1100whp Firehawk, that was 5" open downpipe off the Turbo, so the smell won't bug me a bit lol.

I think just full bolt ons, flash stage 2+, get some wheels, or lower it and I will be happy with it for a daily.

I picked up a used ER one off the classifieds here. I installed my VSRF FMIC and charge pipes tonight. Worst part was getting out the factory charge pipe.

Here to vouch for VRSF - been using their catless downpipe for 1+ year now, quality and fitment is flawless, especially for the price.

+1 for Tiago@VRSF for being awesome to deal with!

Hello Mike!

I have a 2016 435i xdrive M sport package.
What can you advise for down pipe, charge pipe. I want to install JB4 + down pipe+ charge pipe. Can I hit 400 horsepower with those parts installed?
Thank you, have a great day.

I splurged for a fabspeed, sounds great with the stock exhaust. Its like *just* a little bit more aggressiveness without droning on the highways or annoying the neighbors too much. Cold start is a bit loud but i leave at 645 and im hoping im not too annoying lol. I have no CEL yet. FMIC plus DP, CP, and Dinan sport tuner piggy back thing on RACE mode has really made the car fun to drive everyday, plus with the dinan on lazy days i can put it back to stock on the fly for what i tell myself is better mpg

That's what i use and love it. Lottsa power flow , NO smell, NO cel. Fits great and even my mech admired the weld work. But yeah, cats cost a bit... at least high quality ones do.

Worth it!

Hi,
If you are using a JB4, i recommend Fabspeed downpipe just because it guarantees no CEL (JB4 does not auto clear CEL code anymore)

I would do Jb4 + Fabspeed + VRSF Charge pipe
