Smell from downpipe
Hello everyone, I recently installed a catted fabspeed downpipe on my car, recently I've noticed when going to my car in the garage, my garage has started to smell like gas, almost like old lawnmower gas and a strong petroleum solvent, if that helps describe it. I've checked my garage and haven't found anything out of the ordinary and my car isn't leaking anything. I'm wondering if this is just due to having the different cat on my car?

I would go further and say that just because you're running "catted" doesn't mean you won't get foul smells.
The sports cat have a lower cel concentration, so the filtration strength isn't as good as OEM. You'll definitely smell it, and that's one of the "perks" of aftermarket downpipes. |

Side note, if I remember right, you wrote on a recent thread that you were/are running the OTS stage 2 map with Bootmod3 and running only 1 or 2 gallons of E85 on that tune, How'd the performance feel? I don't want to run the e30 map, its my daily and E85 is available in general around me but not right down the street....

i have catless and it only smells in the garage when the car is running...
I would recommend warming the car with the garage open and leave it open when you park for a couple minutes for the smell to go away.

Actually, I just filled up yesterday with 4 gals E85 to 12 gals 93 octane (E29/96oct calculated). The car is wicked fast and runs incredibly smooth. This newest E30 map revision is the tits. Fortunately for me I have a Sheetz station just down the road from my work and also one fairly close to my home both with E85. I've been increasing the mix consistently for the past couple months. I dyno'd 381whp/429wtq on crappy California 91 octane. I bet I'm around 410/450 to the wheels running this E30 mix. That's 470/517 to the crank estimated with 15% dt loss FWIW. Not bad for a couple bolt ons with tune on stock turbo.

470 crank hp? so you should easily gap m4 cs, are you sure you can do it?
b58 tuned stage2 gives ~420 real crank hp, for n55 to give ~460-470hp you need at least TTE460 turbo. dynojet “whp” has nothing common with real whp so adding 15% as drivetrain loss to dynojet numbers is a mistake. Quote:

OP, just installed Fabspeed hjs cat dp a few weeks back. Drove her hundreds of miles, long trips... have no gas smell in my garage. Check for leaks. Did you use a new gasket during install?

Maybe I'm being optimistic but +30hp/+20tq going from crappy CA 91 octane to 93+4 gals of E85 on the E30 OTS map I think is achievable. What number are people using for dt loss on a RWD F30? I plan to dyno again in late fall with cooler temps.

470hp would be ~160-170hp increase vs stock. Its not possible with stock turbo. period.
