I gotta say....all of you that complain about the steering, are you taking the car on the track or is this everyday driving?
for everyday driving, I think this car handles just fine. I've taken this car up up to 140mph and you feel like you're driving at 80 with sport+. as far as turns at higher speeds, just learn how to downshift and take turns at appropriate speeds. the steering is responsive and IMO you feel connected with the road. as far as the car handling at a track performance, I don't have any experience being on a track or how a car should handle on a track. I don't think everyone on this forum is taking the car to the track who get all these track options, or maybe I'm wrong. |

You can get the Limited-slip diff - ONLY $2100 plus install, for something that should be standard. A $50K car with one wheel drive, how does BMW get away with that?

I got the track package because of the feedback that it handles better that way, and I did notice it when I test drove them back to back. I may take it to the track but I suspect not since I have a much better track option that I expect to stick with. |

Coming from E92 335i RWD 6MT.
Pluses: + available with non rft tires + adaptive damping on 4wd suspension + stick shift on 4wd + automatic blip on downshifts (but you can still do your own if you prefer) + 4wd (at times - heavy acceleration, or on wet, or going to Tahoe) + I get almost the same average mileage as in the lighter RWD E92 with the same driving style - impressive + New tech:
Minuses: - 4wd: car is heavier, turning radius sucks, has to be pushed hard for the back to slide - initial bite of sport brakes is weaker than in my E92 - probably due to the car being 300-400 lbs heavier - steering (VSS) not as good as hydraulic - sits too high (although I did scrape the front twice already - didn't expect that) - random on playing music from USB stick is far from random. It seems to go back to one longish song way too often. - there is a delay in gas pedal or something - until I adjusted the way I shift, the engine often revved up on upshifts (it was not the automatic blip). The same thing happened to two friends who drive manual cars when they drove my car. Meh: Any other mode than sport or sport plus. Comparisons aside, it is still fun to drive and take fast corners. Some background; I originally purchased a 2015 428i GC but got a 2016 340i as a replacement for the Halifax recall mainly due to limitations BMW Canada/Germany imposed for MY2016 vs. MY2015 models. I've got about 4500kms on it now.
Pros: - Great suspension; better rear suspension than the MY2015 428i GC, I sensed a slight side-to-side wobble over bumps sometimes - Good bite on brakes; much better than my 428i GC which also had M Sport brakes, albeit 340mm fronts - Great low power band and throttle response - 6MT rev-match is nice, it'll be easier to teach my soon to be Wife to drive a manual - Decent mileage for a 6 cylinder; I'm averaging about 9.3L/100km with 50% city/50% hwy driving so far. I was averaging 8.3L/100km in the 428i GC - N20 (although I did 800kms to a tank a couple times - 7.2L/100km) - Option of 19" 442M wheels, I don't like any of the other 3er wheel options except the 19" 407 wheels that were on my 428i GC as well - Good ride height on the RWD, not too high like the xDrive models - LED headlight/taillights makes a world of a difference on looks compared to pre-LCI - M Performance aero parts can be easily sourced as they've been out in the market for a while; I got used grilles, spoiler and diffuser at an amazing price. - Amazing exhaust tone from factory, I've noticed it turns heads a lot - No complaints about the electronic steering, same feeling as the 2015 428i GC Cons: - 6MT is a bit notchy... I don't like how I hear a clunk noise when I shift into second gear sometimes, I fear it may be a sign of a bad syncro which I've heard was a problem with the 335i - Trunk doesn't automatically close (I miss the rear hatch of the GC ) - No LSD from factory Neutral: - Noisy RFT but I'm usually listening to music while driving so it's not a big deal

The engine has 320hp from 5500-6500 rpms. The thing pulls like it is closer to 350ish hp. I think you're getting used to the power..

Had my fully loaded 340i M Sport with Track Handling for 3 months, 5k miles. My impressions:
Pros: Decent handling Power and power delivery were exceptional, felt faster than 320hp Interior Styling LED Headlights - so much whiter and nicer! Ride quality: With adaptive suspension, daily driving is perfect, but I wish it was stiffer for aggressive driving. Cons: Brakes still didn't perform as well as I expected, despite the bigger M Performance Brakes Squeaks from the gloss trim against the door seals were excessive Blutooth was still finicky. Will BMW ever fix this? Even my M3 is like this. Suspension: The M adaptive on the twists, still not stiff enough. I wish it was slightly more aggressive for aggressive driving, despite being good for daily driving. Basically, the difference between comfort and sport can be greater. Rear diffuser - with the track handling, I wish it came with the M Perf rear diffuser just to differentiate it more from the regular F30s.

Since I will be getting this car really soon I am curious to what you mean by no top end power? Do you feel the car doesn't pull hard on top compared to mid range? I've seen stock time slips between 108-110 traps so I would think it pulls hard up top. All detailed information would be greatly appreciated!!

Hitman ? The car has so much amazing low-end that when you go to unwind at the top it doesn't match the amazing low-end. It has much more top and pull in my opinion in the n55. However this is my third slowest car that I currently own so maybe it's all about perspective :-)
I have a manual and the gearing is a little tall. Think first red lines at 37, second is good to 70, and third is good to nearly 110. Little too tall for my tastings. The automatic has shorter gears and scoots a little bit more so as you would expect. |

I see, so in comparison, an n55 (335) would pull on the F58 (340) on the top end? Stock for stock of course. Also, did anybody feel the front windshield view is a bit narrow? Thanks for the detailed information. |

sorry I meant the B58 has more top end pull than N55. i really do like it but wish it had more power. I think with DP + 2-3 lbs more boost + some E85 ( more timing) and it will be good to go.
Plus the car should gain some personality with the downpipe. |

If someone really wants more power, I suggest waiting for Dinan to come out with their tune for the F58. Or get a JB tune.
