I have been driving 2017 340i Xdrive MPPSK 8AT for 4 weeks now and about to hit 1400km.
Pros: Engine (Feels more powerful than the Supercharged V6 in my S4 before) Exhaust (sounds good in "Comfort" and GREAT in Sport) Interior (Design & space both feels good!) Fuel consumption (Better than the supercharged v6 + S tronic before) Transmission (While not as quick and instant as the S tronic before its still a fast shifting automatic and much better than other brands' ZF) Adaptive suspension (The difference between "Comfort" and "Sport" is like night and day. "Comfort" is useful when you don't want to deal with harsh speedbumps & just want a softer ride quality like during my commute. "Sport" really feels more like what is meant for this car. HUD (I have never had this before but now I can't drive without it! It is a game changer imo and will opt for it from now on) Idrive 6 (Nice animations & feels very modern) Steering Wheel (Leather and grip feels awesome with the M sport steering wheel.) Cons: Interior (Creaks & Rattle especially when I am going over speed bumps) Sound system (HK Sound is not bad by any means but compared to the competition like C43 AMG sound system it is not as good. It needs more bass imo) Cold start driving (This only lasts in the first minute after you drive off but the transmission doesn't shift smoothly as usual once the car starts warming up) Adaptive suspension ("Comfort" while it has its benefits during commute etc is a little too soft for my liking especially when taking corners / entering highway entrance. Steering wheel material (There is no metal on the steering wheel like the one on the //M2 & //M3. This is not a deal breaker but I do wish they went the extra mile on the steering wheel material) Last edited by M4ENY; 08-22-2017 at 01:25 PM.. |

The difference in feel is definitely noticeable. If my 2013 S4 suspension was 7/10 in firmness the "comfort" mode feels like a 4/10 while "sport" mode feels like 8/10. |

Some would argue, perhaps successfully, that the handling differences are the most important aspect of the adaptive suspension, but I bought mine with the intent to "soften" the ride on long trips. From that perspective, if Sport is a 9 then Comfort is a 7.

I totally agree. For some members with adaptive suspension to say that they cannot feel the difference is really puzzling to me. I'm wondering if its because different years have different settings or some other explanation. In my particular car, a MY2014 328i M-sport, the difference between comfort and sport is huge. It's less huge now that I've added Dinan Shockware, but totally noticeable except for maybe on a very smooth straight highway.

This is because you have a 2014. I have a 2015 and I agree with your assessment. However when you drive an LCI with adaptive the difference is far more drastic as the damper settings were completely reprogrammed for the 2016 + 3 Series. |

Most cars I've driven with adaptive have all been pretty subtle...I did read one review a within the past year that everyone said created a night and day car, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was. It wasn't a BMW.
