My dealer showed me a BMW document stating the end of production of the E90 is November 2011. How long does the changeover take? A few weeks?

End of E90 production is likely Nov 2011, but they likely won't be producing F30 models until March 2012.

I think we will see the F30 in U.S. showrooms in early summer 2012 (as in a normal introduction cycle). It will likely be "shown" in Europe late this year and then be available over there in the spring. U.S. will get its versions about three months later - this is standard BMW practice. I think some of these "factory reps" make some of this stuff up. There is no evidence whatsoever that BMW plans to dramatically change their normal seven year cycle for the F30.

And are we still going to be living with HPFP failures unto the new generation?

Summer 2012 makes sense to me, with a roll out much like the 5 series over the summer. I would also expect 4cyl to debut as BMW needs to meet new mpg standards. This eliminates N54 from the equation.

First, above all else, our good buddy Scott26 has already confirmed that the U.S won't see the F30 'til 2012.

That being said, some may recall that there were fully functional, undisguised E90s being driven around Europe in the Fall 2004. The E46 sedan was still in production at that time but the E90s had also begun;; they just weren't for sale yet. BMW does build the 2 models side-by-side for a period of time.
