Don't try to store the button when the "Last Destinations screen is up, that's too late.

Bring up the main navigation menu and highlight (but don't click) the "Last Destinations" menu item. Now press and hold the memory button you want until you hear the beep.

Blast from the past thread, just read this. Thanks.

Something I'll share with others that may not be aware: you really only need to store one single radio station as a preset button.

If you set that one radio station from your Presets menu, and then tuck the presets menu back under with a left push of the controller, whenever you tap that 1-8 key for that single radio station, the HUD will now bring up your scrolling list of up to 40 station preset favorites. Tap that one shortcut button to get to your favorite radio station then scroll the rest from there. It's a lot better than dedicating a lot of those eight buttons to just radio stations.

Ad for the audio button vs programming, I find that pressing audio will chose the option I didn't want 9 times out of ten. It could be me, but I think its trying to piss me off and nothing else

No f30 for a few weeks yet but hers what I'm planning.

1. Call home.
2. Call home , turn on lights, music in kitchen on, temp up, security off. This all done via my home controller.
3. Call work.
4. Call work, turn on lights, shades open, temp up, security off.
5. Local highway police radio scanner, via BMW app.
6. Weather band ( after coding).
7, airport weather via BMW app.
8. This is the one I need help on. Does anyone know if the f30 is able to record a voice message like some of the older models?

That's the trick I learned. To memorize something, you push and hold the button on the item you would select if you pushed the iDrive button down at that time. Not totally intuitive, but easy to remember once you understand how it works.

For example, I wanted to program TPMS to a button. So, I brought up the TPMS display screen and pushed and held the memory button. iDrive says it can't memorize that screen; Huh?

So I brought up the Vehicle Info and turned to the TMPS item on the menu list and pressed the memory button thinking it would at least remember this menu screen so I could then select TPMS later, but it ended up remembering the TPMS screen as I originally wanted. Then I realized how BMW designed it and the rest of the things I wanted memorized were easy to setup.
Ah ha, thanks.

I would not recommend saving "Home" from your Nav in your presets. If your car is stolen, you just made it much easier to have your house burglarized.

Hmmm.. why? Normally you would keep your vehicle registration papers in your car that has your home address. Could the burglar simply get your home address from there?

Yes, they could. But on your NAV, its like handing over directions too.

Indeed, you are right, but if one stores more than one address as shortcut without actually using 'home' within the navigation menu, the risk is rather limited.

Finally did all my buttons

1 - Speed Dial
2 - Speed Dial
3 - Home Address
4 - Work Address
5 - Messages
6 - Route Information
7 - Split Screen Content
8 - Presets

Thought about Trip Computer and the like, but they can also be activated by voice (as can Route Info), tried to keep it to only the most toggled used to avoid interrupting music.

But it is interesting to see what others have come up with.

I usually use the main buttons (Nav, Media, Radio, etc.) for choosing the main screen content (having split screen enabled). However, to always be able to return to the map view with a single click, the first button is
1. Map

The next buttons control the split view content
2. Split Screen: Arrow View
3. Split Screen: Media Details
4. Split Screen: Weather

Because of a bug in the current software leading to the head-up-display sometimes losing navigation information (see some other thread on this forum), I want to be able to quickly disable/enable the head-up-display.
5. Head-Up-Display on/off

The next buttons are every-day-buttons
6. Call wife
7. Navigate home

But what I like the most is button
8. Look for gas stations along the route/nearby
which proved to be very convenient.

1. Bluetooth audio (fires up the phone and starts playback where it left off)
2. Radio station
3. Radio station
4. Sport display
5. Split screen (turns split screen on or off from any screen - useful b/c this is like a 3 step process otherwise)
6. Vehicle Information (defaults to tire pressure - coded to display temperature and pressure of each tire)
7. Friend's cell
8. Wife's cell
