VMR 710's problem

Hey guys,

Wondered if anyone else who has fitted VMR's has a similar problem...

Today I finally got my VMR 710's fitted to the car. Tyre sizes are:
Front: 8.5x19 ET35 with 225/40 19
Rear: 9.5x19 ET45 with 255/35 19

Previously I had a set of 19" 403M's but decided to change over to a new set due to the dreaded corrosion from the diamond cut nightmares. The guy at the shop said that as the previous wheel on the fronts were 8.0 in width, the tyre has been stretched slightly to 8.5 in order to cover the new wheel size. Due to this it's also slightly taller and closer to the strut which may cause rubbing or to touch when going over bumps etc.

Has anyone else had this issue? My 403M's are currently being powder coated all over and once done I'm tempted to put them back on due to this problem. I love the look of the VMR's but if the sizing is slightly out I don't want to ruin the tyres and have a crap ride for a slightly better look...

Cheers.

Hey for the 403m powdercoating. How does it work with the corrosion? Does the shop "shave" off a nanometer of the whole wheel face to get rid of it or just shave off the section with corrosion?

One of my wheels is getting it bad and I 100% doubt the dealer will do anything about it knowing their stingy ass.

Also what are you getting powder coated to? I was thinking of getting the gray inner portion to a darker gray and keeping the face silver

A 'good' wheel repair/spray firm will dip the wheel in acid to completely strip all paint and repair any damage before respraying the whole thing. I'm not getting mine diamond cut again, just sprayed as a whole in Ferric Grey, which is a proper BMW colour.

your tire sizes are slightly stretched but shouldnt come anywhere near the strut, etc.. im running the same size front rim but with a 235/40/19 and have plenty of room and thats with a pretty square michelin as well.

Cool man, I didnt know that.

I'm really interested in seeing the color after its done now! Will you be posting it in this thread or making a new one.

Just so I can try and keep an eye out what day do you think you'll have pictures?

I wish I would have seen this sooner! There's absolutely no issue with running those tire sizes on your V710's. The front 225/40/19 is good for up to a 9" wheel, while the rear 255/35/19 is good for up to a 10" wheel. There might be a very slight stretched appearance, but they're plenty safe to run. No need to hassle with swapping everything over again.

Hope this helps!

The tire size you chose, is the exact recommend tire size by VMR for your exact size wheel. I can't imagine rubbing, scrapping, or anything for that matter when it comes to the size you've chosen. It shouldn't touch the inside plastic rear well, suspension, brakes, anything! Even on hard bumps or hell, even jumps! I'm betting even if you were on low coilover suspension, you wouldn't have a problem. The only thing I can think of that would describe your problem is if the offset of the wheels you bought were not what you stated. I would pull the front and rears off and read the size/offset of the wheel. It's the only thing I can think of.
I'm running the exact wheel, with the exact offset you stated on my wife's 2015 335i M-sport with adaptive suspension. I'm also running 235/40 in the front and 265/35 in the back, and that's on Michellin PS4S tires (which as stated above are pretty square), which would be the type of tire that stands tall enough to potentially rub. Mine are perfect as far as ride, clearance, etc...

Hey guys, apologies for the late reply to this post.

I've been running the tyres on the VMR's now ever since I made this thread and to date have had zero problems. I think the guy that swapped the tyres over was just being cautious in case there were any problems so I wouldn't go back complaining. I have though, covered quite a few miles and not heard any noise or rubbing and also been checking the tyre and bottom strut of the suspension for any wear. There is none to date.

Thank you for your replies/advice and hope yours are all good too!

Cheers
