one other thing about fitting - i also noticed on FaRKle! springs + shocks installation vid is when he torqued everything back up, the angle wasn't applied after.
in ISTA a lot of the values for the job have the angle rotation value next to the torque value.
shouldn't we torque to desired value then rotate the specified angle too?

The torque to yield (TTY) angle should only be done on new fasteners. It's used to stretch the fastener after applying the initial fastening torque. You should never do the TTY angle to an already stretched fastener. Most people (including the dealers) don't buy brand new fasteners for the ones that are TTY so I don't tell them to do the additional angle.

Have the spring rates for the standard and M-Adaptive F31 suspensions ever been posted? I tried searching but had no luck.

I did find a reference that the rear spring rates are similar to the Eibach 11-20-014-14-HA which is found in E10-20-031-14-22 and E10-20-031-15-22.

I'm currently running Koni SA/ Eibach E10-20-031-04-22 (F 1020kg; F11-20-031-02-VA and R 1310kg; F11-20-031-03-HA) with F8X bump stops, but I'm not too pleased with the ride. At low speed, the road feels wavy and the car seems to rock side to side. Once I pick up speed it feels better.

I'm thinking of playing around with different spring configurations. At this point, I don't mind losing some of the drop from the Eibach springs and try a stiffer than stock M-Sport or F8X spring. I did find a super cheap set of M4 springs (DCT) I'm considering to try out.

some noob questions:

(1) going with any springs set, I need new bump stops right?
(2) going with any springs set, are they compatible with adaptive suspension/EDC?
(3) going with coilovers, am i forced to disable/delete/code-out adaptive suspension/EDC?

I'm going to leave it as is for a months use, then measure again.
If I still have the same numbers I'll have an alignment done.
Very pleased with the appearance and ride quality. No more sky high front end.
The front setting would not work well in the snow.
But the last time we had snow where I live was 1961.
If I'm heading to snow country the front can be raised.
That is a definite benefit of this H&R package.
As 328iX has stated, the front is very easy to adjust.
The rear not so much.
I'll report back in a month or so.
How are the coilers after a few months?

This is primarily for 328iX and FaRKle!, but if anyone knows the answer, please chime in!

Do we know the difference in spring length and spring rate for the front springs in the two Eibach kits (E10-20-031-14-22 and E10-20-031-15-22). From Eibach's EU site, *14-22 lists F11-20-031-01-VA with front axle load 965kg and *15-22 lists F11-20-031-02-VA with front axle load 1010kg, yet both list a 30mm front drop and I can't find anything about spring rate or spring length.

I'll be ordering a set for my 2014 328d Wagon to pair with the Koni SAs, but want to know if the difference is simply starting ride height, if ride height is the same and the spring rate is different, or if they're both different. I've got an email out to Eibach too, but figured someone here may be faster with the answer.

Those springs have the same rate. -031-02VA is 10mm taller.

Thanks for that info. I see you had mentioned that earlier in the thread, but didn't know if the spring rates were the same, so thanks for clarifying.

Additionally, does anyone have experience with the Dinan bump stop kit? I'm replacing my bumpstops anyhow, and wonder if the slight drop from the Eibach Pro-Kit would make use of the Dinan bump stops, or if sticking with the OE bump stops for the F31 328d is prudent to protect the Konis as the drop from the Pro-Kit is minimal and Dinan doesn't specifically list F31 compatability (or 328d for that matter). Cost difference between the OE and Dinan is negligible (~$100 vs. $135, respectively) as a fraction of the total investment.

Super useful link on the bump stops, thanks! That should be added to the first post in the thread.

I spoke to H&R and they informed me I had all the correct parts, until I told them there's no way it would work, and that's when I was sent the correct parts and the kit was revised.

The correct part number struts that we're sent to me were

1633452-R1/1
1633452-L1/1
Just received my H&R coilover kit that I ordered from Turner Motorsports. Just my luck I received the incorrect struts just as you did with your kit last year. Not sure if this is a Turner mistake or if H&R is at fault. I’ll have to give them a call on Monday and try to get this ironed out.

Thank you for posting the info!

I just got off the phone with both H&R and Turner/ECS. H&R confirmed that 28895-4 is the wrong kit and that 28895-8 is the correct kit. I called Turner/ECS and they were clueless. I explained the issue and that I talked to H&R and they confirmed that the Turner’s fit guide is incorrect. The lady asked me what type of car, model, etc., and then had the nerve to tell me the -8 kit would not fit my car. I asked her where she was getting the info and she said from their fit guide.

After explaining it to her again, I still don’t think she got it. She issued a return label and stated when they get the -4 kit back, they’ll drop ship the -8 from H&R. They didn’t offer any apology or way to accommodate me and speed up the -8 kit getting to me. When I suggested that she may want to have someone update the fit guide, she made no comment.

I’ve been buying from Turner since 2001 and it’s really sad how what was such a great company to buy from has now become part of this giant ECS conglomerate where customer service is non-existent.

Rant over.

I didn't even deal with ECS / Turner. I went straight to H&R, made them pay for all the repairs and send me the new parts. They actually told me not to get ECS involved which is why I imagine it was never updated. I was under the impression they would notify them.

So I recently purchased a F31. Looking at suspension options as I feel the car is a little unsettled when driving. Of course I want a slightly lowered appearance as well. What is the thoughts on Bilsteins B14? I had PSS9 in a S2000 before and liked the ride. My other ride is a F80 so stiffness doesn't bother me much.

The F31 has 65k miles, any other components to change while I am installing the coils?

Any option works really, Bilstein or KW street comfort are both great.

I also came from an S2000, actually had 3 of them.

Regarding what to replace I'd normally go with everything. Definitely new top hats front and rear, bump stops, top and bottom isolators, dust boots. Etc. doesn't cost that much more, top hats are you biggest expense.

If anyone could give me their advice on an issue it would be great!
I just installed some B16s and set all of the parts to the same thread count: 10.
The front right of the car is now about approximately 3/8" lower than the front left. Should I raise that coilover to have an equal height? I saw on the forums here that there is naturally some difference in balancing. Or would it be better to simply ensure that the coilovers are equal height and let it be?

Thank you.

Is that WITH you in the drivers seat, or not?

You probably want it level and balanced with your typical car load... so driver + normal passengers & luggage.

If you're normally the only one in the car, then just you. If there's always others in the car, then take that into consideration.

But sounds like with someone in the drivers seat then it might be pretty level

There was always some variance with my vehicles but I believe it always came down to where you're parked & how you stopped the vehicle.

Even going up a driveway into a garage will leave the front higher than the rear, yes you would end up on a flat surface, but the action of going up the driveway shifts all the weight to the rear and it settles there.

I would first measure in several different parking lots and flat surfaces before making adjustments.

Secondly, check you make sure the coilovers are fully seated in the knuckle.

Lastly, get an alignment.

Order doesn't really matter, you can do whichever you'd like first. But point is I would check everything else first, I would try to keep them at equal adjustments, if you lower or raise one side, it will actually upset/ affect other corners, you will find yourself making adjustments indefinitely.

That's without me in the vehicle. I'll grab a friend and go to some different spots to measure it with me and see what happens. Thanks!
