Dump + pan for the filter

I'm at 117K and was going to ask the same question. I was dropping my care off at a garage here in CT, and they told me they recommended against it and they didn't want to do it. I took my car and left and am still contemplating having someone else change it.
Perhaps ask FCP Euro do it?

Did mine at 87k and plan to do it again at 120k. Running Redline D6 ATF. Already have the fluid and the new pan/filter from FCP Euro.

Can it go longer? Others have proven it can, but I drive my car hard and it is an easy maintenance item to do. Fresh fluid is ALWAYS better than older fluid that has degraded over time with heat.

Anybody got a link to a diy on changing the pan and fluid? Fcp euro sells a trans fluid kit. I saw their diy video but they mentioned using a pump or something. It looks like you have to be specific on how much fluid you put back.

You will need to follow the ISTA procedure, monitor temps, etc. Aside from youtube videos using ISTA is a good idea

I changed my trans fluid at 200 000 km as a precaution. I didn't feel any change in shifting but it was a relief even though it is 'life time fluid'. I am now at 263 000 km with no issues. The sooner you change it the better I guess. I plan on doing the coolant as well even though that is also 'life time fluid'.

ZF does recommend fluid changes, the interval depends on your trans. I did mine around 30 or 35K, and will likely continue this pattern. But for the sake of clarity I have a lift in the garage which makes this endeavor much easier.

The tools necessary are simple but a couple investments are necessary. A code reader designed for BMW is necessary given you add fluid till it drips, then start it and wait for fluid temps to reach 50C, then follow the same procedure. A simple fluid transfer device will make your life easier if not necessary,I recommend Motive, and you will find other uses for it once you have one.

Have fun with this! But I’m one of those fools that enjoy this kind of crap.

I had my F32 N55 tranny fluid changed and a new pan ($) at an Indy Shop yesterday. It was at 110 km. The mechanic did note the fluid was dirty. Now, what about those transfer case fluids?

The pan/filter was $278. The fluid was $144 and the labour was 2 hours.
