Anyone installed a dashcam on their GT?

Wondering if you went wired or unwired? Which model you liked?

I am looking at the vantrue N4 (but not sure about the cabin cam) or the Blackvue 750x but open to other suggestions.

Any thoughts?

I have a cheapie wired forward facing only one, the one you are looking at is exceptionally better and well reviewed.
I can't reccomend some form of dash cam enough, I've caught some weird/amazing crap on mine in just a few years.

I have a front and rear dash on mine. It's wired and mostly tucked into the moldings throughout. I went with a cheap brand and it does it's job if I ever need it for insurance purposes. Been about 2 years now and holding up fine in northeast US weather. I actually have front and rear on both of my household vehicles. I was rear ended on the highway while driving at least 50mph smh and when the driver went back to his car he sped off. I chased him enough to record on my phone and get his plates. Luckily his insurance said he admitted fault. So ever since then I installed dash cams lol

Where have people who have hard wired tapped in for power? Would like a clean connection and shortest route?

The cig lighter under the glove box is the best outlet. I run the extra cord through and wind it up in the glove box and close it. It hides a bit of the run.

Later model cars don't have the cig lighter under the glove box as is the case with my 2018. I ran it to the usb in the aftermarket wireless charger I have installed ahead of the cup holders

Went with Thinkware Q800Pro

So I did some research and found that the Thinkware Q800Pro has an OBDII power cable connector. It is also quite small and discrete. This connector means that the camera automatically turns on/off with the car and the wire can be completely hidden behind trim.

So far don't have many miles on the camera, but will report back to see how it looks.

I installed a Pruveeo Dash Cam Front and Inside Dual FHD 1080P Built-in GPS WiFi for Cars Taxi, 24H Parking Monitor, Infrared Night Vision, G-Sensor, 2.0" LCD Car Camera on my 2018 F34. Ran the wiring tucked from the roof towards the passenger side panel and plugged in the cigarette lighter under the glove box.
I like the 24hr parking monitor and works great.

For the wifey's F39, I installed the Kingslim D5-4K Dash Cam with WiFi - Front Dash Camera for Cars with GPS and Speed, Sony Night Vision. This cam is very small and recording is very clear & crisp. Ran the wiring the same way I did on my F34. I'm considering replacing what I have in my F34 now with the Kingslim.

Good luck!

I don't have a dash cam, but I have my gopro mount installed in a similar spot to a dashcam. There's probably a cigarette lighter under the right hand glove box (on the left side, just look under and you'll see it, but post 2018 doesn't have from what I know) that you can use like others said, and I do the same thing, hide the extra wire in the glove box itself.

As to what dashcam you should get, I recommend going on Reddit for this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/ has a list of good dashcams on the sidebar. Here's their list for "premium dual cams" that is aligned with the pricepoint of the camera you mentioned in the OP:

VIOFO A129 Pro Duo ($200-249 USD)

BlackVue DR750X-2CH ($333-370 USD)

Thinkware Q800PRO ($350-400 USD)

BlackVue DR750X-2CH (LTE MODEL) ($378-420 USD)

BlackVue DR900X-2CH ($414-460 USD)

Thinkware U1000 ($500 USD).

If you get the BlackVue you'd also want something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008B8ERIO I believe.

I'd suggest also considering the product from these guys: https://fitcamx.com/

I'm about to install a 4K version in my wife's F30 with Connect Drive option. It does not require any pre-wiring as it splices off the OEM harness behind the rear view mirror.

Looking at getting a F/R setup for my F34. I looked at this, and it seems interesting. I'm a lazy sort, and not having to fumble around running and hiding a bunch of wires seems nice. Only wire to hide is the rear cam.

Let us know how it turns out.

Any update? I'm curious about this one as well as the connect drive hogs all the rearview space.

I’m very happy with a single VIOFO v119 mini. Cheap, easy to install and nice results.
