Stone Protection for fog lights

I've had two fog light lenses broken in the last 5 years. I live in Colorado where I drive I-70 daily and where the highway department uses larger than average aggregate for winter traction. Are stone guards available to protect these lights? Protective film is an option, but I'm skeptical as to whether film will prevent breaking a lense.

I haven't come across any stone guards, other than Lamin-X. Anything along the lines of off-road grilles would probably cause too much beam scatter.

I’ve had Lamin-X yellow tinted film on my fogs since day one and there is no damage to any of the lenses.

I'd try PPF. It may very well protect, as it softens the impact. If it doesn't, you seriously need an SUV for where you live... Never heard of broken fog lights.

I have put PPF on mine just to avoid them getting dull and "sanded" with time.

I got PPF just for my fog lights. I put it on the fog lights of both my vehicles. Seems to work so far.

Definitely do PPF. Actually makes me wonder if this application, to protect fog light lenses, might warrant a double layer of PPF? Especially since you have experienced breakage. I assume that it wouldn't effect the light output to any significant degree. Anyone ever tried double layering PPF? Does it stick to itself without issue?
