Your clutch is beginning to slip most likely. Happened to a lot of us. Got the drivetrain malfunction but the car drove fine, then it got worse and worse. Ended up upgrading the clutch.

There is a counter that cannot be changed. Flash and lock makes it look invisible with smaller investigations but if they look deep enough they'll find the flag. This has always been the case until they find a way to reset the counter.

Thought this was ''new'' so by that I mean it would come up also with the small investigations.

Any plans for a linear throttle option?
I find the BM3 throttle mapping way too sensitive in Sport mode, the moment you so much as rest a toe on the pedal the car lurches forward.
Loving the comfort mapping and wish it could be applied to the other driving modes as well.

I purchased my 340i last month with 29k miles on it, and have already purchased a new clutch & flywheel. It's obvious now that the previous owner was a little racerboii kid, but evidence that a clutch can be killed pretty quickly. $850 for Spec Stage 2+; $1,050 for OEM DMF; $1,000 install. Labor will probably be a bit more for most, so expect around $3k for aftermarket clutch or $2.5k if you're going the 335is/550i clutch route.

$350 in parts, $850 in labor. Went with 335is/550i clutch. Stock flywheel was plenty good. Stock clutch was good too. It's the pressure plate that's failing to hold.

Anyone here went from Stage 1 to Stage 2 (either 91 or 93) care to vouch? I already have a high flow catted downpipe (the CG DS-1) and I'm getting the Bootmod3 flash this Friday. Should I just opt for the Stage 2 right off the bat? Just don't want anything too twitchy for daily driving, which I fear may happen with that much power on Stage 2. If this fear is unfounded please tell me lol

TIA

I never had stage 1, went straight to stage 2 but I can tell you it was not twitchy. It was definitely powerful WOT but the power band felt smooth. I recently went stage 2+ and it's a bit twitchy around 3000-4000rpm with the high torque but good think about bootmod3 is you can adjust boost % in each gear. So even if you want less boost in 1st or 2nd gear, you can always adjust the boost decrease percentage

Just go Stage 2. It's only about a 15-20 WHP difference and I doubt there's any difference in smoothness or drivability. I never had Stage 1, but I had JB4 and damn, the difference in power and smoothness from the JB4 to BM3 Stage 2 was amazing. Soon enough, you'll want more, and then you'll be looking at Stage 2 E30 and then upgrading the HPFP and going Stage 2 E30 +.

Oh its a huge difference in power compared to a JB4 but for me it wasn’t even power but how twitchy the car was with the JB4. It would set of acceleration codes and go limp at times just annoying. When it worked it was fine but too many issues.

Haha

You can actually already set that in the I drive. Configure sport mode just for chassis only not engine. You'll get the steering but the good throttle. Also you can just hold the traction button for DSC off.

Yup, told by my dealer that there was a DME update due on my car, but they didn't complete that because they were concerned it would "remove your remap".

They weren't told of a remap. Car was in for regular minor service and BM3 was stock flashed and locked.

As you'd expect in this cat-n-mouse game, BMW have moved the game forward. Quite right in my opinion too. I don't want the many to have to pay more to cover warranty claims from the few. That's unfair.

Yeah I know but that option also leaves the transmission in slow mode.

I don't think that's the issue. They are able to find maps with a deeper investigation, so it wasn't really a case of people sneaking warranty claims.

However, what I have seen is multiple people buy CPO vehicles, bring it in for warranty, and get denied. Presumably the previous owner tuned the car and they didn't catch it during the certification process. Now THAT is messed up.

That should never happen! A CPO buyer should not be denied a warranty claim based on mods done by a previous owner. If that happens, it defeats the purpose of buying "CPO".
That's just wrong.
