this+. looks like a very minor cosmetic change, but the engines will be the story for sure...

Just like BMW, put something new out just in time to rain on the next A4's parade...
I assume that means the X5 LCI will also have the B58. I guess BMW must be feeling inadequate with MB and Audi's V6's both churning out over 300hp.

My prediction is the M Sport bumpers will stay the same, similar to the F10 M Sport LCI. One of the main reasons is the M Performance aero add-ons. They'd have to make a whole new kit for the facelift. I believe most of the changes will be seen in non-M Sport model bumpers. And we will most likely see LED headlights.

It looks as if 2015 will be a "short" model year (which BMW has done often), with the LCI being a 2016 model year car, available late summer next year (2015). That means you can more than likely place an order for an LCI early next Spring...
The 2015 model year M3's (sedan) will already be available this Summer, and are running with the current body style, meaning the 2015 standard 3 series sedans should be the same as well. Based on this thread, this supports my theory that the 2015 M3 will be a one year body style before the LCI arrives for 2016, which is exactly what happened with the 2008 M3. |

When talking about cars I think it makes more sense to use MY as opposed to calendar year. If a car was built in 2012 but is a 2013 MY you wouldn't call it a 2012. And technically the F30 Production started October 28, 2011. So why are you not starting your count in 2011?

According to that logic, the 1 Series M Coupe in North America never existed then 2011-2011 = 0 years In the US, we use model years. I do realize you're from the UK so that might be the difference? IDK But regardless, people often forget to include all the years & only account for the difference. For example, we all know that a century is a period of 100 years. Naturally, then, most people would think the 19th century = 1800 AD-1900 AD. But that is incorrect, because even though 1900 minus 1800 is 100, the actual time span from 1800-1900 would amount to 101 years. Therefore, the 19th century is actually the period between 1801-1900. I would use the same logic with model years as well. The 1M had a 1 year run (2011) vs a zero (2011-2011= 0) year run...lol

Not to beat this horse any more but you are starting your count on a release date and counting until the next production date. Production date to production date is closer to 4 years But either way I was just trying to make the point that the pre LCI for the F30 is approximately a year longer than the previous 2 generations.

Yeah it's not like it'll be a night and day difference. Mid-cycle refreshes are very rarely something evolutionary.
Hell with BMW, full redesigns are rarely evolutionary, but that's ok, the styling ages well. |

Well I'm more worried about the new engine. If the new standard hp is 335-350 I can't wait to see whatever power kits they release bump it up to.

I believe the new B58 engine will be the current N55 + M Performance Power Kit = 332HP and 317 Torque. M PPK was a preview of new engine, probably, and the premium to get that is the cost to have the brand new engine before it comes out with LCI... Just my 2 cents..
And obviously if this is the case.. they won't release PPK for B58.. They may release one for next gen G30 to go through this cycle again may be? |

Any info on the B58 engine?
Also, the Chinese market F15 X5 got a 4.0L Twin Turbo V8, which I suspect is a smaller displacement variant of the N63
