I have my Y cable, and the auxiliary portion of it (or maybe it's the port) seems defective? I have to angle the auxiliary portion of the cable "just right" or the sound only comes through on the left side of the car.

Any similarities?

It could be corrosion on the aux jack preventing conductivity of one channel. Try plugging in another two-channel audio source and see if you get sound out of both sides. If you do then it's probably stress damage on the Y cable, usually on the "jack" part of it that plugs into the aux port.

Is this upgrade feature only available on F30s or will it work on 2013 e92 with combox and apps?

Since it used the VIN number, I'm guessing it can be used for any chassis.

I use a USB drive for music as it provides better audio quality. But when I take it in for the ASS to be coded off, and for the brake recall, I'm going to inquire.

I fixed my own issue....... I don't even need that stupid y cable.

I was using some generic "amazon" lightning cable that didn't work.

I found one of my real apple lightning cables and the car recognized the iPhone perfectly.

Good to go.

Interesting. I have an amazon basics 4 inch and it works perfectly on my iPod nano and 5S.
