There does however appear to be quite a change in the model range itself.
For example, my present 335i Luxury ought to be replaced by the 340i Luxury, but there isn't one. Only the 340i M Sport. There is, of course a 330i Luxury, but I wouldn't want to go back to a 4 cylinder engine. Quite a bit of tinkering with the range of variants.

My guess is that Luxury buyers have proven less willing to pay the extra for the six, so they want to reduce SKUs that aren't selling as well. Besides, UK buyers also have diesel options. I don't see LCI on the US site yet.

Bill, I suspect that your guess is spot on.
Here, in the UK we have access to a website which tells us exactly how many vehicles of a particular type are registered in the UK. I'm sure you probably have something similar. Here's the total number of 335i Luxury GTs registered in the UK (including mine) - Don't you just love the exclusivity

I don't believe that site is totally correct.

There's nothing like that in the US, probably due to the 51 different registering locales. The closest thing I could find was for 2015 BMW sold 94,000 3 series.

Rapid, you're right about the info not being totally correct.
I've just looked on another site, (https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/#) which derives it's info directly from the DVLA (UK Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority) and the number quoted above was for 2013. The 2016 figure has risen to 26, so still 'fairly' exclusive.

Maybe. It depends on how detailed the registration information is. I can see the distinction being made between 335i, 335ix and 335ix GT, for instance, but I doubt that in most instances that Base versus Luxury Line versus M Sport would make its way onto the registration. Clearly it did in some cases, but I doubt all.

Bill, the site is surprisingly comprehensive and actually shows results for 75 variants of the 3 Series GT. See here -
https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?page=3&q=bmw+3+gt Here are the results of the 6 cylinder variations for 2013 to 2016 - And more specifically the 335i Luxury - Quite a detailed report I think.

When I searched 335i GT it only came up with Luxury GT, standard and auto, and MSport GT, standard and auto. Do they not sell the base 335i GT in GB?

I believe what you refer to as the base 335i GT isn't offered here. 'Base' models are shown as 'SE' in the UK and are now offered only within the 4 cylinder petrol and diesel engine ranges.
It gets complicated with different models only being offered, and available in certain countries.

FYI, I tweeted BWM today to see when the build page would be updated for US folks, they replied that it will be available on Aug 12th. Figured I'd post in case others were wondering. Waiting for it to show up so I can plan my next GT order Lease is up soon and I'm ready for my 3rd GT!

Heh. I started with a '10 F07, which while an awesome car is just huge! It barely fit in my garage, so when that lease was up, the F34 had just come out, so I got one of those. I've been so happy with it, I will likely order pretty much the exact same car. I am looking forward to CarPlay
