iPhone notification sounds when connected via bluetooth

Hi all,

This may be a dumb question but I can't seem to find any discussion on it with the search function so here goes nothing...

My iphone phone is always automatically connected to my 430 via bluetooth (non apple carplay). When my phone is connected I don't hear any sound notifications for messages or sound notifications to any app. The only time I would get sound notification is receiving a call.

Is there a way to fix this? (i.e. get a sound notification when I receive a text when connected to the car via bluetooth?)

Thanks,

Do you have the audio system set to use another input such as the radio or USB? If so this will prevent you from hearing alert sounds from the phone aside from phone calls. From what I understand you need to have Bluetooth as the current input in order to hear app alerts.

But with safety in mind, I don't mind not being alerted to a text message while driving. If urgent, they will call.

What he said. I only notice notifications from my phone via the car audio when I'm using my phone as the Input, ie listening to music on my phone via Bluetooth.
