Bmw.co.uk shop frustration

It's as if they don't want your money.
I've recently bought an F80 wheel for my F30. I have the centre trim but need the rear piece as well, I have the part number. I enter it on the website and it comes up at a good price with free postage, but I can't order it without a VIN for an F80. I ring up Park Lane BMW who run that site, basically tell me because I'm wanting a part that isn't for my car, they won't do it I said to the guy who cares what it's for maybe I want mount the plastic on my mantlepiece what difference does it make just take my money. Then he said he'd do it but charge the postage because it's not an approved retrofit? Unfortunately then it's dearer than ebay so no point.

Honestly just the strangest conversation, I'll just google an F80 VIN and put it in the website but what a ridiculous set up

They don't want plebs like you turning your soot chucker into a pseudo M car and devaluing the M brand, can't you get your cretinous head around that.

Just buy from Elliot @ Harry Fairbairn Kirkcaldy - usually unbeatable on price, and free delivery.

Although a few years ago now, when I worked in a dealer we could only sell M parts to a M chassis number.

I usually just ring my local dealer with a part number and ask what their best price is. They have never asked e for a VIN or Reg.

Although, I don't think I have ever bought anything M specific.

Rubbish, they couldn't care less. It's nerds and enthusiasts on places like this that care. BMW don't, they occasionally pretend to for the hard core, but they don't mean it. Every other car they make is covered with some kind of M badge.

M lites now with Diesel engines. They're really only interested in one thing, "show me the money" and you're a deluded cretin if you think anything else.

To get the right part for the right car, same process for all parts, some of which would be safety related when they got it wrong.

Explain why the M logo is on every other car they make, why they're constantly diluting it further and further, every year. They absolutely couldn't care less.

Same with Jaguar. Their proper R badges started being put on standard diesels a few years ago. The Internet forums went mental, letters of complaint sent. They stopped putting them on fairly quickly.

Retards like you on forums like this came up with conspiracy theories, it was one rogue factory worker sticking them on. Jaguar would never do it. Utter bollocks.

Jaguar, and BMW, would do anything if it meant a few more euros profit.

And if it was a BMW directive why did he agree to do it but charge postage. Not very likely to change his mind on a rule set by BMW for an extra 3 quid in payment.

Bmw.co.uk shop frustration

Sheesh just wanted a nicer feeling steering wheel for my car! The current one is suffering from going a bit green at the top so thought I may as well get the M one since they're not much difference in price to my M Sport one.
I rung my local dealer straight after, told him the story and he laughed and ordered the parts for me straight away and even gave a bit of a discount.

Also Oceanic you're hardly one to lecture on fitting sport parts to the 'wrong' cars, I see you've fitted your Audi with RS rims despite it not being an RS? The shame.
