Not xdrive but like to stay in original sizes been honest. If I had 8j rims all round then would go 235. I have been eyeing up them for a while now in 9j all round

Ah yeah they're lovely wheels; huge fan of Apex alloys. I just can't justify spending nearly £3k on wheels and tyres; it's just not in me

Huge fan of the Apex ARC8s and wanted some for my E39s; but decided against it as they soon lose their value etc

Looking good

I do like the look of the slightly chunkier 235/45s. Looks a bit more balanced as I always thought the S drives looked a bit under nourished at the front tyre wise, compared to the back.

Thank you squire

Yes they're much better on a square set al round IMO and a size wider; more sidewall

For some reason, our dog refuses to get into the car via the rubber mats 😂 He was fine with the carpet ones 🤷‍♂️

The OEM BMW rubber mats I think are superb; but they're chunky and do a good job over the colder/wetter months; but they're not as comfy underfoot

The cars in summer mode now Can't have rubber mats in now

That's the winter 397s washed, dried and packed away for the warmer months; they'll be reinstated come sometime October 2024 no doubt

Yeah they do look handy; but for me it'd just be another piece of equipment that gets used once every so often and then spugged away again etc

I'm trying to declutter the garage currently; need to put my new to me dumbbell rack somewhere

Probably good training for you to heave those wheels around yourself anyway Dan..😉👍…by the time you’re on the last one it probably feels like it weighs twice as much, even to you ( more like ten times more for me ) 🤣

Haha TBH I was shifting them 2 at a time and then got a bollocking off the wife as shouldn't have been doing that... Old habits die hard

But they are heavy; more so compared to the 405Ms!

So easy to clean though! If only they were lighter wheels; I'd run them all year round; think they'd look superb in ferric grey as well

Full detail today; inside and out

Plenty of trips to the nursery gardens & tip = absolutely filthy inside and out (the nursery gardens carpark is sand based; gets everywhere)!

Wheels washed, snowfoamed, rinsed, handwashed, towel dried, AGs Rapid Ceramic Wax applied to the bodywork and Gyeon's Q2 tyre dressing applied and buffed off

I still can't get over how much nicer those wheels look in Ferric.
The 405M was one of my least favourite styles (I know, burn the heretic), but in that shade, they look like a completely different wheel.

The colour has really opened up their detail; they do look much better for it

In satin black they looked really good IMO; but on the car; all that detail is lost!

I really don't like them in 20" guise and diamond cut; but that's my personal preference

20" wheels don't belong on an F3X IMO; far too big/not enough tyre

I have been tempted to go for 19s (BBS CH-Rs / 437Ms as an idea) or a set of Apex alloys; but the 18" 405Ms are forged and 9kg a corner; so it'd be a very expensive sideways swap really...

Mtec 5mm hubcentric shims (spacers) and stud conversion kit fitted this morning

Such an easy mod to do but makes life easier when it comes to taking off/refitting the wheels and the 5mm spacers have the wheels sitting perfectly now IMO

12mm spacer was too wide and I didn't want to go with 10mm as they don't clear the hub properly

Looking sweet as always

Wrestling with heavy wheels can be quite tedious, so the studs seem like a good move

Yeah there is that train of thought; the 405Ms are lovely and light at 9kg a corner; but the winter 397s are heavy buggers at 14kg without tyres!

I do take the wheels off regularly to clean the wheel arches and wheels thoroughly; so the stud kit os great for that

But its also a big preference for when running spacers too
