Wheel Center Caps Fake or OEM?
Morning all,
This weekend annoyingly I lost both my drivers side 56mm centre caps. It's also quite shocking to see how much BMW charges for a plastic disc. Anyway I need to replace them, anyone bought the non-OEM ones off eBay? If so was the quality ok? Or would you just bite the bullet and go OEM? Cheers. |

My nearly new winter wheels came with replica centre caps. Have had a chance to compare over the years. The replicas have lasted virtually the same time as the OE caps. When I required another set, I bought off eBay for something like £8 a set. They are the same as the 'original' replica caps.
Good fit and finish and don't seem to bubble any quicker than OEM centre caps. |

OEM. I've tried some from ebay and they were shite - quickly discoloured under the surface and looked dreadful.

I've had mixed results with Ebay copies - some great quality and lasted as long as OEM and some shite which lasted 2 weeks.
Go OEM and get the new spinning ones! Cap price not quite as bad as the cost of a OEM wheel M badge - they really are crazy money!!

£75 for the spinning ones and I thought the non-spinning ones were expensive.

I bought some non gem from eBay before Christmas to fit with my newly refurbed wheels, sad to say the caps are showing signs of failure already. I'll be getting the original parts next time around.

I had new OEM caps when I had my wheels refurbished. Little over a year, and they were starting to delaminate.
Personally I think the OEM ones are a bit shit. |

Yes, OEM is the one on the left.
Ironically the cheapo/replica/fake has had the harder life. Winter use with much more wet and salt on them for 7 winters. |
